Can't help but think we ought to hold another vote first, narrowing it down to "served in major combat role" or "big shiny thing with 400 machine guns". I've nothing against the latter, but I think the former should be the priority and I expect that if it was narrowed down to those two choices, a lot of the votes would swing in the former's favour. Dude, when you started this thread I thought in my selfish arrogance, 'here goes another noob', and awaited something horrible made in MS Paint. I think I couldn't have been more wrong in my skepticism ! I wish you all the best luck in modeling this behemoth! Just a question; Are you planning an interior model (i.e. Cockpit and Gunners position) for this beast?

I guess i will not built a new cockpit for this plane, because there are NO references for it! The new B-29 cockpit looks equal. i may ask to use and modify this instead.

Looking good. For the different positions, I suggest using Ranwers' B-29 cockpit with a modified framework, Japanese gauges and a 20mm nose gunner. The top turret from a B-17 with two 20mm machine guns instead of 50 cals. and a G4M1 tail turret with no framework. Like KG10 I didn't expect results but man I was dead wrong. :lol: Fuselage looks great! But however I believe that the wings are too thin and the engines too large. As seen in the blueprint below.

400 strafing machine guns is probably a typo. And even if it were true firing all those guns would probably cause a massive FPS reduction. What are you thinking about in terms of bomb armament? With the ability to carry an incredible 44,092lbs of bombs (that means 1336 15kg bombs, or 40 500kg bombs, 22 2000lbs American bombs, 8 5000lbs Russian FAB bombs, 3 12,000lbs Tallboy bombs, 2 22,000lbs Grand Slams, 4 Little boy's and 4 Fat Men hock: ) are you going to include some fictional "super bombs" as well? Bombs like these would have probably been used, although not in large numbers when hitting targets like New York for maximum damage.

Edit: I seem to have forgotten that you may not be able or want to model bombs and super bombs are rather far fetched. :oops: So I'd like to change my question to: Do you (and the public) think that such bombs are plausible enough to be made?

While the project was conceived by Nakajima head Chikuhei Nakajima, Kawanishi and Mitsubishi also made proposals for the Fugaku. The Nakajima design had straight wings and contra-rotating four-blade propellers; the Kawanishi design had elliptical wings and single four-blade propellers.

I found them in the a "Axis experimental" link in this post: (The link is inoperative) Chaoic16's threads are info-finding motherloads.

Apparently due to the inavalibility of the Nakajima Ha-505 engine (made up of 4 6 cylinder rotary engines sandwiched together) the project went ahead with the possibly underpowered Ha-50 engine (2 11 cylinder rotaries sandwiched together). And by the way since the props are four blade contra-rotating propellors similar to the Brabazon. so I suggest (slightly modified) sounds should be taken from that plane. The landing gear from the Brabazon with the outer two main wheels to be jettisoned to save weight. Transport and "strafer" versions when retain theirs as they would be needed for safe landings with a full cargo bay.



Remember, the blisters on the sides of the aircraft DO NOT contain guns. they are for observation for the navigator or radioman.

Sorry I missed the vote. A shame the Nakajima G10N1 Fugaku won because this aircraft never actually saw service. Would have prefered any of the early-mi9d war Japanese bombers instead.
