Mission Mate WIP - Mod Additions. *UPDATE December 11 2009*

CrazySchmidt Wrote:That error message is displayed when MM is launched but can't find the FBPath.txt file, which should be located in the MM program folder. It is the file that holds the path info to your copy of IL-2. Without that info MM cannot interact with IL-2 correctly.

From your screen shot, it seems as if you are attempting to run MM from a temp download folder, which is not a good idea. The installation process should be as follows.
1. Extract the contents of the zip file onto you desktop or another location on your PC.
2. Run the setup exe and choose an installation location for MM.
3. Launch MM. The first time it loads after installation, MM will ask you to point to your chosen IL-2 program folder and it is this info that is written into the FBPath.txt file which is located in the main MM program folder.
That should be all you need to get running.

Also, it is not necessary to uninstall any previous version of MM because each new version is a complete install and is always installed into a new version folder, however I personally would always uninstall any previous version just to keep everything nice and clean.

I think ( Ihope...) this time I got it all-many thanks!!!
Works like a charm ( just checked...) but no Hs129...my heart is broken - I rseally wated to convert all those Ju-87G missions...maybe next time??? :guncool:

Let me know how you get on.

Dietz, don't worry mate, with this release of Mission Mate you can have "ANY aircraft that is currently active in IL-2 active in Mission Mate". Even if the aircraft you want is not presented in the MOD aircraft selection tool inside MM, you can add them quite easily through notepad, but first lets sort out your Hs129's.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems what you are after is to have the existing Hs129 AI's working with the flyable mod active in Mission Mate. This is what you need to do.

Go into MM's quick mission builder window, then from the "Mod Tools" menu select "Set AI Flyables..." as shown in the following screen shot:

You will then see a window displaying all the available AI aircraft in a list. Scroll down the list until you find the Hs129 then select it, click "Add" and it will appear in the list on the right hand side as shown below:

When you have added each aircraft click the apply button. That's it, you Hs129's are ready to use.

You may need to restart MM to have them working correctly with the editor though, I noticed earlier that an error message may occur if you have the "Link to Editor" check box selected when clicking the "Create Mission" button directly after applying an AI flyable. The program won't crash, it just reports that there was an error creating the mission file which actually means that it didn't recognize the new flyable entry through the editor.

I hope this is what you are after, if not let me know and we'll work thruogh it.

Thanks for this great update,

--- but

When I select "Add New Mod Aircraft" I get an error message then MM crashes.
Run time error 374. Failed to activate control 'VB_Usercontrol'

Is it looking for air.ini in root/files/com/maddox/il2/objects ?

My air.ini is in root/MODS/STD/com/maddox/il2/objects

Hi asheshouse,

I have responded to your post on the MM forum @ M4T. I would appreciate your feedback.

Needing help

I installed Mission Mate plus, but have no maps

When installing, I could see that maps where being installed, the JPG files are where it is supposed to be, but when I launch MM, a message telling me that Ardennes map is missing appears, and afterward in the main MM screeen, there are no maps

Could anyone help me?

Thanks in advance

Are you using 120DPI with your monitor set-up? If you are you will need to download the 120DPI support files separately, it's the one at the top of the download file set named "8_MM120DPISupport.zip" I have done this to try and keep the main program file size as small as possible.

If this is not the cause of your problem let me know and I will help you figure it out.

Thanks for all your hard work - it is appreciated !

I have a quick question which I think may have been asked before but I can't find it now.

Would it be possible down the road to add a feature similar to the clone feature that Uberdemon used ?
Would be nice to be able to have larger numbers of aircraft in the air.

Thanks

Mark

Mr CrazySchmidt

Your suggestion did the trick; I was so eager of having this new version of MM that I downloaded the main program and the help files only an missed the other two.

I thanks you for your help...and keep the development of this excellent program; regretfully, there are so many of us using it and few of us telling you how much it is appreciated; Thanks again.[/quote]

Hi Mark,

Yes it would be possible but would also require a significant restructuring of the code inside MM. I fear it would also compromise the effectiveness of the one waypoint for all flights method that MM uses.

With that considered, I have no plans in the near future to implement this. Sorry.

Humberto, I truly appreciate your comments. Thankyou! Big Grin

BTW, you didn't miss the other two files, I was late to upload them.

It is very pleasing to see more and more people being attracted to MM; I was since the earlier days, and have kept growing and learning all along. What really hooked me is that being a computer..newbie... Confusedhock: Confusedhock: MM was VERY user friendly, and I was amazed at the results. Now with more maps and features AND the ability to ADD any kite I have in the hanger and incorporate it into any mission...WOW !!! Tongue

It was an honor to contribute in a very small way to this fantastic encyclopedia, with a couple of skins a while back. Believe me; anyone who is considering trying out MM....you shan't be sorry for the time you put in. CAUTION...you will be hooked, and become a master campaign strategist. You now have the tools.

Thanks CrazySchnidt for all the horrendous amounts of hours you have put in to this project. My hat's off to you and your support team.

CrazySchmidt - Mission Mate is fanstatic! Let me ask you this: Granted you have made it easy as heck to add new aircraft by a simple note pad edit, what is the possibility of making another utility into a campaign generator?

Hi X_Man, sorry for the slow reply, I must have been sleeping and didn't notice the new posting :-?

Firstly, I'm glad someone has commented on the ability to manage the whole MOD aircraft thing via Notepad .
When I first started on this new feature I was only going to offer adding/editing via notepad (which is how I have always worked with this kinda stuff), but then I got to thinking that I would be doing a lot of MM users out of a potentially nice new feature simply because I hadn't put enough effort into it, that thought led me to build the front end to help the whole thing along. Big Grin

As far as the campaign generator goes, I'm just too old, too fat and too lazy to take on a challenge that big now days, perhaps 5 or 6 years ago!! All jokes aside though, MM has always been a reasonably close reflection of how I personally play IL-2 which is quick single player action, move the scenario quickly to something new and then go again. I have never even played a campaign and to be honest I wouldn't even know where to start on such a project never mind the time it would take to build a quality example of a campaign generator.

I'll be honest and say that the thought has crossed my mind before, but at least for the near future that is as far as I can take it.

Thanks for posting and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Smile
