Can i say one thing about realism ... ?

"Enemy aircraft destroyed" message ... apart from dogfights with no historical belongin' , in a campaign this message should be ... her ... deleted ... for a good fighting realism.

During the war, to know u have REALLY downed a plane u should have followed him\it untill his\its very end ... Many fights just ended with black smoke planes rapidly going down with nobody pursuing and pilots got saved lives instead.

Or, of course, cutting off a wing or sudden explosions its a big evidence ...

Imagine to follow someone to look for his parachute and claim a victory Big GrinBig Grin

Ihave tryed this kind of cutting out "kill" messages since playing RedOrchestra: its kind of hard to play knowing that your enemy should have fallen or just hiding still in cover ... WinkWinkWink

I love the idea of icons or graghics or even when engine gets hot, the HOT is in red letters and perhaps blinking.
I dont know am I making any sence, since I have a few beers in my belly. Cheers M8s.

I changed some lines in my version of the file:

It used to be *** instead of - but sometimes I could mistake the *** for an aircraft icon, it took only a split second to realize what it was but it was still annoying.
I'm also considering to replace the - with one single dot (which was the way ROSOBOROetc had done it the first time IIRC)

This is by far the modification I miss the most when I have to fly with mods off (eg on some servers/coops) Great stuff, thanks again.

um...im not too good at all this stuff so...i cant find the folder were u keep this in...files\i18n\hud_log_ru.properties....i find the netmessages and hud_msg...but not hud log ru

please help!!

TJV619, the default path is:

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\i18n


As an aside - this now means that radiators are either open or auto - which kind of messes things up a little bit for bomber jocks trying to trim aircraft in tight formations. Any ideas what to add/change to the new file structure that will bring back the incremental radiator settings?

Hi,

Just for laugs (and I had nothing better to do) I created my version of hud log messages - I am using some "ASCII Art" / symbols instead of the text - the problem is that the font in IL2 is not a fixed width (e.g. Courier) so the grpahics simetimes looks different than in the file itself.

Immersive? I don't know, but more fun Smile
