Small update. mixx have been visiting here and he has been informed about the bugs that needs to be corrected. He is very happy about the comments so far. If you find some new bugs report them here, but read the thread before posting.

There is a small error in one of the mission files that comes with this gorgeous map but it is easily fixed:

The mission called ''I-16_Vaenga7'' has the wrong map name associated to it. Just replace this line: ''MAP mixx_Zapolar/load.ini'' where it says : ''MAP mixx_Zapolare/load.ini''

Amazing thing the internet isn't it? Somebody from Russia makes a wonderful map, A Dutch guy (Agracier) got aware of it by SAS site (started by an South African guy as far as I know), you as a Finnish member introduced this map here at AAA and me as a Dutch guy came up with some little bugs. That's what we call international cooperation. Big Grin

Thnx CKY_86! I knew it had something to do with an error in a line in this I-16 mission but till so far haven't spend time to sort it out. :oops: But you found the error, I corrected the line and indeed, after a little test it works now. :lol:

Adding just water to an already existing map is possible - it's a bit of a mess getting all the maps coordinated since they are all interconnected somehow - map_t/map_h/map_c/map_h/the table thing ... but it can be done with enough patience ...

What will give the most trouble and which i would not really know how to do, is retaining all the objects in their correct placement on a newly made map ... and it would be an awful shame to try and redo the whole bunch of objects again from scratch. Nor do i have any knowledge of what would happen to bridges that were made by the map-maker.

If anyone knows about the actors and how to 'transpose' it to a larger map, it would be a good thing to post.

The actor file in this map is 566k in size. Which is just a bit too large for a copy and paste operation. So you could not feasibly copy/paste from old map to new.

I Think that this map have lot's of sea already. And editing this map would be difficult. I wouldn't do it.
Making new map for Large scale Naval convoys would be a better. IMHO.

Just increase the water area for a tempory measure and you can have as much ocean as you want without any work on the map

try this.....BACK UP THE LOAD INI AND SAVE IT SOMEWHERE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now delete the contents of the load ini and replace it with this

your artic map now sits in the corner of a big ocean map with all objects and textures (and water textures ) in place........it might do for now
All thats needed now is Mixxs permission and some bright spark with map building experience to continue the land mass along the bottom to the right hand corner of the map
and colour the whole water area in the opening map to the same as that in Mixxs map (you'll see what i mean when you first open your map)

I,ve made one or two small maps but really don't know a great deal about map building, i like to take things apart and experiment and thats what i did with the load ini.
I'm not sure if land can be added to what i've done using just map c that would need someone experienced to find out, all i did was add more water using just the load ini
and it works, ships can sail on it and planes fly over it so that those who want their arctic convoys can have them now.
Why go to the trouble of using map t and map h to extend water when we already have large water areas on stock maps that can already be used, i've just taken the
water area mass from the stock palau map and put it onto mixxs map by altering a few lines in the load ini and changing the co-ordinates of the land mass, what else can
be done to that i dont know but it would be great if we could just simply extend the land to the edge of the map and populate it........any takers?

It now takes over an hour to fly from one side of the map to the other so hopefully there should be plenty of open ocean to have those convoys, if i knew how to open and
alter map c using gimp i would try and extend the land along the bottom using RGB scales and then Fmb+
