WIP:New DF map of Syväri (SVIR)+GTA style Video
#16

Set up a WIP Maps folder in your HSFX installation: ---- same as in UI 1.2 setup

root/MODS/MapMods/Maps

If the map comes as a self executing *.exe file then first install to a temp folder on desktop.
So for Kt_Svir_v1_0.exe --- run the file --- when asked for the game location enter c:\desktop\SvirTemp
A folder will be created on Desktop -- open the folder -- drill down in the folders to find :

Kt_Svir (folder)
all.ini
readme

do not use the all .ini

Copy and paste your WIP Map Folders into root/MODS/MapMods/Maps like this: root/MODS/MapMods/Maps/Kt_Svir
If the map requires it you may also need a textures folder root/MODS/MapMods/Maps/_Tex -- Kt_Svir does not require this.

Now look in the root files folder in your HSFX install and find the file: root/files/maps/all.ini

copy and paste this into root/MODS/MapMods/maps --- only make text edits to this copy of the file not the original.

Add text lines to all.ini as required by map installation instructions. Look in the readme file and copy:

Kt_svir Kt_svir/load.ini
Kt_svir_W Kt_svir/loadw.ini

add these lines to the end of the all.ini file
The Svir map will appear last in the map list in FMB. If you prefer it elsewhere in the listing then change the order of the all.ini

The game will read the all.ini in the MODS folder not the one in the files folder.
If you disable the MODS folder by renaming to -MODS then you will revert back to a pure HSFX setup.
You may need to do this for online compatibility reasons.

If the Svir map is added to later patches of HSFX then remove it from the MODS folder by deleting Kt_Svir (folder) and deleting the two text lines in the MODS copy of all.ini. This will ensure that you are using the official HSFX version of the map, when the time comes.

The Archangel map may be added in a similar way except that a root/MODS/MapMods/Maps/_Tex is required.
Paste the personal note into the Archangel folder for safe keeping.

Thanks Ashe, I got my maps working - but not exactly like you advised.

I did it like this:

1. I added the necessery lines (Kt_svir KT_...) to HSFX all.ini file
2. Just copied the (extracted) Kt_Svir folder to ...root\files\maps folder

Because the maps didn't work with additional MAPS folder, I tried the procedure above and that's it - I'm happy now!!!

Kapteeni!

As you know I'm an old fan of your maps, and knowing that you are doing a new version of the Svir Front s really EXCELLENT news! Go for it! And please see to it that the Finns get, if not all historical airfields in the area, then at least the most important ones.

Really looking forward to this one! Keep up your fine work - and try to survive Cristmas!

Yes. That works, but doing it my way you do not alter your original HSFX files only ones in your MODS folder. Next patch you get for HSFX is likely to overwrite the one in your files folder so move a copy into MODS before patching.

If you keep WIP maps in your files folder instead of the MODS folder you may have to disable them there for online compatibility with some servers. Online compatibility is in my view easier to manage if you keep all your WIP mods in the MODS folder becasue all you have to do to disable them is to rename MODS to -MODS, a simple single step job.

I'm pretty sure that you will like this one. Map might smaller than in real, but it covers even Joensuu. Flyingtime to Karelian Isthmus is still acceptable. Haven't acually tested it, but.. and yes all the important airfields are there.
I have almost done the basic texturing and next is the roads and railroads. This map will use CanonUKConfused, Kevins roadplates and many things that are included with HSFX 4.1, so you guys should install it. I'm doing it with my AAA UI with CanonUKConfused maps other mods. I will include the needed mods of course...
My aim is to make lots of villages factories stations and other stuff for you to destroy!!!.
I believe that this map will take some time to get finished....
More to come

WIP Screenshots and small update info:
Basic texturing is done. I have almost all the airfields at right position. Mods used so far: CanonUKConfused houses and crater mod by (?). I will use Kevins road and some other mods aswell. They all are included in HSFX, i believe.

Dudes1 I couldn't help my self. Here is my new promo video: My Joensuu town in making. Looks like GTA from early 90Confused! Not excatly. LOL It does looks like some project in NY. Because of driveable car, mapmaking is gonna be more precisly what comes to streets and stuff. This video shows that it is possible actually drive cars. There was this Tankmod once, but it sucked big time. You can DL this Kubelwagen mod from SAS

Big Grin
This card takes some time to finish. I will try ro make it as detailed as possible. It is a big challenge, because it must work with medium core machines.
