Ah, thanks for the new version with less dense aircraft damage smoke!!
Cheers!!
The "We Are Only Dust" Trailer is amazing! Can't wait for that explosion effect!
Wheeeee! Thanks, it looks amazing! Gotta go blow stuff up now!
No, I haven't.
What does it do, and how do I do it?
Some great stuff, much appreciated!
I'm confused. I also see the white boxes w/ "Fireball", but w/ Texture Compression enabled. Everything is as advertised when I disable Texture compression, so someone explain this to me:
"To use animated effects, you must activate texture compression in the il2setup.exe."
Is this a case of miscommunication? I've used both the "Files" and "MODS" folder structures, and it either doesn't work (due to other effects mods), or exhibits the white boxes phenomenon. Like I said, it works as advertised w/ Texture Compression disabled, but some maps require Texture Compression (Channel), so it would be nice if this effect worked w/ Texture Compression. And that's why I'm confused, because it's clearly stated that Texture Compression should be enabled, but the effect works only when the other way around...
what is w/? with?
I don´t know why happen this to you, in my computer, the animated effects don´t work with compression disabled :S
Have you enabled ARB extension too? If you have done, I don´t know help you, sorry.
First, I would just like to say thank you for sharing your excellent work. Second, I was able to bypass the issue via the 64bit .exe and Windows 7, which allows me to disable Texture Compression, even on large maps (Channel). I was previously unable to use Windows 7 and IL-2 due to GPU driver incompatibility (V-Sync), but an updated driver has finally allowed me to run IL-2 via Windows 7 and utilize the extra RAM (6GB!). I'm still confused as to why the effects work w/ (with) Texture Compression disabled, as your instructions clearly state that Texture Compression should be enabled. Not that it matters now since it all works as advertised, but it still has me scratchin' my head.
Sorry I don´t know :S maybe Fireskull can help you, good luck!
Help me w/ what? I've got it sorted. The effects perform as advertised, but only w/ Texture Compression disabled. This isn't a problem now that I don't need to enable Texture Compression, thanks to Windows 7. I'm just confused why Texture Compression exhibits the white boxes when Texture Compression is supposed to be enabled, but works perfectly when Texture Compression is disabled. Maybe it's a GPU related issue? Like I said, I've got it sorted, I'm just confused is all...
