If you know what the .tga file is called and it's pathway, you can probably do this without opening the original. As an example, put the line: 3DO/Cockpit/Bf-109E-7/Bf109E4Equipment.tga into your Filelist, then make a Bf-109E-7 folder in your 3DO/Cockpit folder and place a blank white .tga titled Bf109E4Equipment.tga in there.

Fire up the game and you will see some part of the 109 cockpit components 'reskinned' with this new tga. I think the same thing must be the case with the runway skins. Just need to find the name and pathways. the size and content of the .tga you can work out through trial and error.

I had a sniff around the various forums and found these references. None that mention metal runways though, but interesting nonetheless.

Might be able to make bigger and better effcts though.
