Impressions about the new maps?
#31

Username, I think you're right about map size and number of objects, maybe that's why... But it's a pitty because on the other hand the crop field and hedgerow and highland textures are very nice, also the landscape in the west part is lovely.I like those textures in fact more than the ones coming with Slovakia.
But there's also the fact that buildings were placed by the machine on Basarabia, while the Slovaks placed them by hand mostly. Machine is stupid, saves a lot of time of course, but the result is not good, all villages are alike, all towns are alike.
Anyway we end with a map which has very nice aspects and also not so nice ones. There are a couple of possibilities. Divide map in say 4 regions and populate (mission templates etc). Reduce number of villages and/or size of villages and especially towns on the whole map. Then you can again populate.

Going to Slovakia, I have a prety old PC (2GHz, 1GRAM, ATI 9500), it's not flying well over it, so I'd be happy with a reduction of objects. Visibility distance increased for slovakian buildings, that's another factor of FPS loss, so many signs that I should start thinking about upgrading my PC

That was done deliberately because Bessarabia is a very large map. It apparently has the same object count as Slovakia...more objects would have destroyed your fps.

Incidentally, the final version of Slovakia is going to have a reduction in object count (mainly taken from the large cities) of 10 - 15% in order to increase the minimum fps count. Personally, I'm not keen on that and would rather keep this beta map, although as others have pointed out there are missing textures in a few places.
