newer jets

I wouldnt get too impatient regarding getting all the much needed WWII types, I have faith that we will acquire these, at an increasingly rapid pace.

I am all for the development of pre, and post, WWII aircraft, upto and no further than the Korean Conflict - which incidently, used a lot of WWII aircraft, such as much needed late war American aircraft. Ie, P-51-D-25 (ie, the rocket carrying Mustang), B-26, etc etc. Not to mention the early jets.

Now I understand your taste doesnt run there, but they are a very important part of aviation history, and there is an increasing fan base for the usage in the game. I myself lay claim to being part of that fanbase. Yet I agree withnot doing the drawing board jobbies that never saw the light of day. BUT if the modders want to do them, then by all means.

As I said above, I wouldnt want to see development past Korea. We could do with a Meteor, as we could a vampire. The Sabre and Mig-15, and the F-80-C thats being done, and possibly a Panther - for these scenarios; which are just as interesting and deserve as much focus as any other conflict.

Yes IL2 is a WWII sim, but she has a fantastic physics and flight model, and an ever increasing, talented fanbase.

So, why not delve into Korea, and earlier? I reckon it would be bloody nice to have choices from a Albatross DIII to a North American F-86 Sabre.

Development, is the name of the game here.

I have nothing against a Korean war addition. It is not something I know alot of, but I am welcome to it. Same thing as WWI. I would love a WWI addition to IL2 with maps and planes. However, I feel that we should tie up all the loose ends with WW2 before we go on to something as big as Korea. As nice as it would be to have WWI planes and Korea planes, I would rather have IL2 be a completed mastepiece. The PTO in IL2 needs desperate attention.

I just want to say that I am actually excited about the Korea map comming out, and I fully respect the modders involved. I just get a little irritated when I see all these request for either very rare aircraft or all these jet aircraft. Why not do some Japanese planes? Why not a Devistator for historical Coral Sea and Midway campaign? Why not a D4Y Judy to replace D3A Val instead of having to fly a D3A1 late war? Why not add a Ki-45 Nick for defense of Japan? Why not fix the COG issues for Kate, Avenger, Pe-8 and D3A Val? Why not do a map of the Philippines, or Tokyo, or the rest of Japan? Why not add a P-61 Black Widow, or a B-26, or Mosquito with Rockets?

There is so much we can do for WW2 IL2 that I see being ignored or going to waste. I am not necssarily against Korea additions, I just see little or no focus on the bread and butter of WW2 IL2. I see little or no focus on adding PTO planes for the upcomming Slot map. I see little or no interest in doing these tweaks before moving on to Korea. Some of the stuff I mentioned is a lot less demanding than adding a Mig-15. How about a 1942 variant of P-38 for the new Channel map? You can use the same model, make a few FM/DM tweaks and add as new plane. SIMPLE. Or fixing the COG for val and Pe-8? I don't think that is as challenging as adding a Mig-15. How many WW2 planes have been completed and are done and are waiting for new slots? What about the DO-17? What about He-219? What about Lancaster? There are still planes that do not have waistgunners. Can we have all versions of B-17 with waistgunners? What about all that stuff that can be done?

If my life would permit it, I would be willing to learn how to do all this, but I am in a situation where I can't. I am making all the new maps available for DCG when they come out. I do what I know how to do. I don't know how to do everything I mentioned above. If I could, I would.

I guess I am just saying I don't see hardly ANY focus on WW2. Seems to me lately it has been nothing but Korea stuff. Again, I am not necessarily against Korea, I just don't want it to entirely drown out what still needs to be done in WW2 theater.
