I like the idea, but the air traffic control of WW2 wasn't quite what it was today. Many airfields were virtually uncontrolled and might rely on flares to alert a pilot whether it was safe to land or not. The default grass runways are wrong - during the period you would have a grass field, not a prepared strip, although tarmac/concrete/steel runways are acceptable. Also, many airfields had no control tower, and in some cases a truck by the runway start position was used for that purpose. I like the way the Slovakia map (and some others too) are now using grassy areas instead of runways for tale off and landing.
