Better Water and Land Graphics

Well everything looks good but now when i get around alot of smoke or explosions and i am looking at it, it gets slow and kinda choppybut when i look away it all good. What setting do i need to change to fix this? and heres my settings and specs. I have a Nivida 7600gt OC 256mb and AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz Memory: 2046MB RAM
