Thanks for doing interestings mods
Alan Wrote:Sorry CAF, I cannot take credit for the sounds. I simply took sounds already existing in the game and re-mixed them. I have been searching a long time for this effect, but when none was available I thought I would just experiement with this idea. I agree that the shrapnel sound could be improved. I was also thinking it should sound more like a shovel-full of hail being thrown hard against a tin roof. So it would be interesting if you could try to mod this part of the sound.
There's no problem. Anyway that's what I was going for. I should finish that next week, but I can start working on this only from next thursday. I got a busy schedule until then. You'll receive the first versions next weekend.
Alan Wrote:Yea Slikk, you are correct, but the game uses the same sound used when your plane is hit by a bullet for this effect. (Im not sure, but I believe this sound is also associated with some battle damage). Im trying to get the sound effect of a car driving though a short burst of hail - This is what you would hear when you are far enough from the flak to avoid damage, but would hear the falling shrapnel "raining down" on your plane.
I tried to find the stock shrapnel sound in-game but I found 2 files that sounds pretty similar. It would be great to know which one of these is the flak related sound.
-exp2_54_1.wav
-exp3_11.wav
Slikk Wrote:The Battle Sounds mod enables you to hear explosions at greater range than the stock game, so if you are not using the Battle Sounds mod, the impact of your plain being hit by flack when the explosion is out of range may not be a problem. .
Slikk, I don't know if you would like to work on the coding part of the mod. If we could hear the flak from a little bit farther than the stock game, that would be great. And also, I don't know if it's possible to change this, if we could trigger the shrapnel sound effect from a slightly larger radius, without touching to the damage of course, I'm sure it would give a nice ambiance boost. After getting those mods I would fine tune the timing on the explosions and shrapnel wavs so it sounds realistic.
