When offline you approach the enemy airfield, its AAA starts the fire on you. Isn't it some kind of a trigger? Perhaps the situation is not so hopeless as it may seem

Closer to an "in range - attack" trigger, but not an "If plane in range, then man AAA guns, sound alarm, spawn AI aircraft from hangar and set detected plane as target". You'd need an "if... then..." kind of trigger that one could programme with.
