want to start modding

Spinnetti Wrote:Hi All. There are a few things I'd like to see done in IL2, and wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Some of the stuff is a few tweaks to some msh's, and some is just some java simplification in the GUI. Not to sound too needy here, but is there a basic out line of activity for the modelling part? I can get farther faster with at least an outline. I think have the appropriate tools, so as an example project, I'd like to make the wheels of my favorite bird more "round" i.e. a few more polys. So I would do what in general terms? My guess is below (though I only see mats for wheels, so not sure if this will work for that anyway... thought I was looking for a msh).

Guessing the steps:
Fish around the with the SFS extractor to find the object I want?
Convert to 3DSMAX with MSHConverter?
Edit with 3DS Max?
Export with Buggy-buggy exporter?
Repack the SFS with?
Package my mod by doing ?

Anyway, not trying to be a pain, but I'd be happy to dive in a bit with a little starter info (I'm not familar with these tools, but have some modeling experience with Autodesk Inventor and am a former professional programmer - but not in Java).

TIA.
I think that you dont need to make it SFS again
