It really is quite amazing the strength of opinion these matters brings out in people. It says a great deal about what Oleg Maddox has acheived with il2 - it really isn't 'just a game'.
I am convinced that Olegs stance on modding is a blessing - even now, with modding possible. By design new content is difficult to add - this mostly ensures that what is imported into the game is of high quality and by virtue of the strict rules at AAA very few people are able to circumvent what was the original intent of his rules, online play has not been damaged by modding - in fact quite the opposite.
I really hope that they don't try to make the current mods incompatible with 4.09, aside from the fact that it probably wouldn't stop modder very for long... I'm sure that Oleg can see that modding has improved his already amazing simulator and as long as modding is still controlled sensibly by the community then it will also have extended its lifespan far beyond what it would have been.
Oleg Maddox and AAA... they might not see eye-to-eye, but they make a hell of a team - don't you think?
