There have been a slew of Western Front flight sims of varying quality, yet Il-2 is the sole sim that lets you fly over Eastern Europe and has countries like Romania, Finland or Hungary.
Indeed so ... as usual with most WWII flight sims it's going to be Spitfire and Bf-109 ... yet again. Great planes to fly and all, but they have become so ho-hum that I never feel the need to take one up. The real attraction of Il-2 has been all those little known, odd looking, weird and often ramshackle aircraft that we now have. That is adventure and fun!
I know all about the marketing requirements and such that virtually pushes one towards doing BoB stuff to make a venture profitable, but it does sound all so predictable. And Western Europe and the UK specifically is so flat and uninteresting a terrain to fly over ... how long before there will be any good maps for SoW? And how hard will it be to make them if everything in the new game is going to be more complicated graphics-wise? Even now it takes quite an effort to get a map made. How much more so for SoW?
