original map_c here
under way version here: just 30 minutes are necessary to rebild the complex coral structure of Palau as it's easy to see it in google earth.
unfortunatly the map itself, again, doesn't respect the real one...so i had to invent some parts.... I hope Oleg's team will be closer to reallity for their storm of war in terms of topology.
Exactly, it MUST be drawn by hand. If you use photoshop, in my experience, the best method is to aply values for shallow waters in map_C and then makes custom brush for the eraser tool.
Then with that customized brush erase areas of the shallow waters but change size and density of the brush.
Changing shape, size and before all density of the brush is the most important in the process because in that way you give “natural look” to the reefs and shallows (havier brush for the deep and softer for more shallow). And also avoiding too much tiling and patterning.
In this way you can draw anything you want in the corals (craters, chanels etc.).
Bombsaway’s textures are very good for this because they have very good patterns (for avoiding tiling)
Redko, it will be another astonishing map. Can’t wait for it
