Dont misunderstand me, I really could care less if someone wanted to cover a smaller area that is encompassed in TP's Slot maps, and try their own hand at it. While I do kind of find it redundant, I am watching this with a bit of enthusiasm to see what he wants to do with it.
What I can't stand, is the spreading of misinformation about the original Slot maps. This isnt the first time I've read that someone has said that the Slot maps were scaled, and I just stepped in to correct the situation. The Solomon Island chain built by TP is 1:1 scale. It is 550km from Henderson to the airbase on the south coast of Bougainville, if you measure the same distance in Google Earth, you will see that you get the same thing. You may get something like a 2% difference because of the curvature of the earth vs. the flatness of maps in Il2, but they are in fact 1:1 scale.
