When you are goint to hospital (after wounded in action) it means you are not involved into the fights for few months. The same could do this mod. This is the main difference between allied and german fighters. The number of combat missions you have done. German pilots flew all the time because the couldn't go for longer rest and allied pilots had longer breaks after some number of combat missions.
