You could, of course, buy IL-2 1946 from the bargain bin where it now resides, say £10. Then you could install the free patches until you have version 4.09. After that you could install HSFX or UP, at no cost to yourself. Finally, if there are mods that aren't inciuded in those packs you could add them manually for no extra charge.
If, after all that, you are so desperate to have a B-17 cockpit that you are willing to fork out $5000 up front then be my guest. You'll be on your own though.
