I've gaterered alittle more info on the gun setup ingame.
first....vertical convergence...at first I set this to the same distance as my horizontal convergence, but noticed it was hard to get good kills, I've read many complaints about the game not having over dramatic kills like IL-2, and thought this was the problem, or maybe I'm just a really bad shot, or something. then I changed my vertical convergence out to 600m and started cracking everything I shot at. I guess this is the balistic drop of the bullet compaired to the ceterline of the plane??...or the boresight compaired to the gunsight??..I dont know, but being set at 200m made it not very good. Try 500m-1000m and see if you get more black smoke from engines at 300m+, and more total destruction at 150 meters and less.
I've been flying the 109 more then anything else, which is a little bit different of a ball game then the allied stuff when it comes to guns. I've set my two MGs to 300m horizontal convergence (at 600m vert). since these guns are mounted pretty much side by side and inline with the gunsight itself...there is not big change in the way they handle. these guns are not to be overlooked, dont get me wrong, cannons are great, but your MGs can cut a plane in half given enough of a burst, and ontop of that, you have ammo for days with them. I've set my cannons at 150m horizontal (600m vert) and save my shots for the final moments of a pass on a bomber, or after you knock the agility out of a fighter with your MGs and only use them close up. this is where you start knocking big pieces of plane out of the sky.
