Open the Load.ini of that map, replace a line, and check it in game (Lowlands, Midlands)
It's mainly by trial and error.

No offense, but when I try something like that, it usually ends up as nothing but error...
Are these wonderfully intricate and detailed textures meant for a specific map? If so which one?
I would think one of the BoB maps, but if so I have no idea how to go about getting them to work. I tried copying them into the map folders but nothing happened ...
\How does one go about getting them to work?
Stunning, simply stunning!
Thanks for the download
about the same question: the map "Compans_ground_textures" contains 22 .tga of 1025 kb and one of 257 kb.
where do i put every .tga, or where do i put his map?
i know ,i'm only a Belgian :oops: :roll:

And I am only a Swiss, but I have the same question...
Maybe someone finds the solution and lets his load.ini here, for us to look at ???
Avoir la foi, c'est être plus sûr d'une chose que la raison ne le permet.
People keep asking.. Where do these tga's go exactly? What is the file structure to find the folder required..
Thanks for any help chaps
I think I've found the path for the tga files.. I believe they go into here.. IL2sturmovik1946/MODS/MAPMODS/Maps/_Tex/land/summer...
The tga names have to be entered somewhere like Can 40 loadini in his map folder.. Anyone with 'exact' info please pipe up! I'm just going from guess work here.
I believe they go into here.. IL2sturmovik1946/MODS/MAPMODS/Maps/_Tex/land/summer...

I tried that ... it seemed sort of the obvious place to put them. But even when editing lines in a particular load.ini file so that a type of terrain points to a texture by Compans in the '_Tex/land/summer/' folder, it still doesn't work ... even caused a few game crashes when trying to load the map it was intended for ...
No grief on that since a prudent person makes a backup of a (ini) file before editing ...
But for all that, I still can't get them to work in a map ... while for others here it sees so obvious as to be unnecessary of explanation or instructions ...
Oh No! Trial & error....for me that's more like Error .& Error & game shut down...Is this it or is there an easier ( fool proof ) way??????????????????
Place textures in:
IL2sturmovik1946/MODS/MAPMODS/Maps/_tex/land/summer/
I'm assuming you're using Cannon's map so now look in:
CAN_Channel/CAN_40_load
open CAN_40_load.ini
Scroll down and alter like so:
[FIELDS]
LowLand0 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_3.tga
LowLand1 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_3.tga
LowLand2 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_3.tga
LowLand3 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_3.tga
Alter subsequent files in similar manner.
Please backup your original ini. file first. Remember that file names need to end with '.tga'
The advertisement in the download can be clicked on ('X') to get rid of it. I'll look into uploading elsewhere too.

Thanks, Compans !!!
If you upload it somewhere else, can you also join your own CAN_40_load.ini with, so we can see more precisely how to modify this file...
That would be very kind of you !!!

Like I said, the best way to do this is to paint the textures in. The way Cannon is doing it is by using a different texture for each slot and accessing the texture via the painting tool. Obviously this'll look like crap if you use the load.ini straight like this without painting. Try this. It should work. Not too spectacular but you can tweak from here:
[FIELDS]
LowLand0 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_1.tga
LowLand1 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_2.tga
LowLand2 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_1.tga
LowLand3 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_2.tga
MidLand0 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_2.tga
MidLand1 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_1.tga
MidLand2 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_2.tga
MidLand3 = land/summer/Compans_french_fields_1.tga
Mount0 = land/summer/Compans_mountain_fields_1.tga
Mount1 = land/summer/Compans_mountain_fields_2.tga
Mount2 = land/summer/Compans_mountain_fields_1.tga
Mount3 = land/summer/Compans_mountain_fields_2.tga
Country0 = land/summer/Compans_Marsh.tga
Country1 = land/summer/whitechalk.tga
Country2 = land/summer/Compans_Marsh.tga
Country3 = water/rom_fields_Beach.tga,2
City0 = land/summer/Compans_French_village.tga
City1 = land/summer/Compans_French_village.tga
City2 = land/summer/Compans_French_village.tga
City3 = land/summer/Compans_French_village.tga
AirField0= land/summer/Compans_airfield1.tga
AirField1= land/summer/Compans_airfield1.tga
AirField2= land/summer/Compans_airfield1.tga
AirField3= land/summer/Compans_airfield1.tga
Wood0 = forest/summer/rom_forrestground.tga
Wood1 =
Wood2 = forest/summer/rom_ForrestFar.tga
Wood3 =
Water0 = water/water.tga
Water1 = land/summer/Compans_coastal1.tga
Water2 = land/summer/Compans_coastal1.tga
Water3 = water/rom_fields_Beach.tga,2
Or try using Dutch textures for lowlands for example.
