Hi Cujo,

maybe you didn't understand my first post correct but i don't have the "Il2 Sturmovik 1946/MODS/fb_maps" Folder. So how do i make it then work?? i need another MOD first that creates this folder?? How do i get this "fb_maps folder"??

I can see your point, but I think it may be a matter of opinion here. Personally, I like to see a bit more of a contrast in color between the trees and the ground texture. They all look good though IMO.

hi Cujo,

and sorry but i don't get your answer also McWolf :oops: i think you mean the order like MOD/some map folder etc

i could do a manual install but then it can't be shut on or off like the MODS folder so i rather won't do that.

Rowddy,

The fb_maps folder comes with Flushmeister's download, that's how you get the folder...

When you extract the files to a temp folder, you will have (1) a readme file (2) folder titled fb_maps and (3) folder titled Flushys_Airfield_Textures

Take the two folders included in the download and insert them into your MODS folder.

Not sure if anyone else has made this observation, but for some reason, i got a very significant framerate increase Confusedhock: . I was flying over Caen during a mission i was making before installing the textures and the city was just dragging my pc down. A rocket attack meant that i'd appear almost face to face with my target after not seeing some frames for a couple of seconds due to a very weird stutter. And now...it's pretty constant. Unbelievable. Generally the framerate is up for some reason. So now i've got more immersive texture with a much much better "time of day feel" and a plus in framerate. Flushy, i think i love you man! Big Grin . Well, not in that way, but u get it :lol: .

I use vpmedia's Default Map too, think FLushys's mod tree texture is too dark for overall map texture tone

My quick tuned one, wish to check the difference, tree color should be little more green and yellow. also note the shadow is too dark, I didn't tune it yet.

those are the forest=3 autogenerated tree settings, I did not modify those:
it would be "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\_Tex\Trees\AlteredBush8aTL.tga"

in my default map upgrade pack I discarded the old textures so this mod wont have full effect if my mod is installed...this mod is basically a 2nd solution for the same problem

btw in the default game PTO uses the same textures as ETO so simply modifying textures isnt enough, you need to fix the ini files too

Hmm Dude I think you're using my bumpmaps but not my texturers, that looks very weird hehehe. Well I guess it interferes with VP media's textures, I don't know how 4.08 compatieble VP's is, but mine is and if you want newer textures in on line gaming, you could use my mod for a 4.08 and vps for 4.09. You also seem to have standard Il2 cities, I beleive i made new textures for the towns and factories too, strange that they won't pop up Sad

Very nice look, and no framerate loss on my elderly 4 year old machine (2.5 gig/Radeon 9800)

I only flew Kurland online map so far, but noticed more trees right away - and the shadows look great leaning away from the sun. It is a noticeable improvement for sure.

The grass texture is definitely an improvement from the stock pattern...my only problem (not because of this mod) is that some of my smaller .TGA files are still the stock ones so that the new grass pattern only pops up as I'm landing...any ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, I actually made those trees dark because often a tree is much darker than the grass, and I might suspect that the shadows are too dark because there's some other textures under it, I think my textures are a tad bit darker than normal, because I thought that clear weather on line maps are almost retina burning bright and insanelly unrealistic Smile .On line maps often have clear weather, 12 o clock sun so everyone can play.

It is the grass airfield texture...the problem is not related to your mod which is working perfectly even on my old machine :lol:

Somehow I've got my some of my airfield ground .TGA files mixed up so that from a distance the original ground .TGA shows up and then the new .TGA snaps up when the highre resolution 512 .TGA is displayed while landing or very close to the ground.

oh I see, This might be a dumb question but it's better to be certain, have you searcheed for "AirPrtGrnd" in your Il2 folder? (without the numbers or .tga) maybe there's even something in the files folder, sometimes I get textures showing when they are in the il2sturmovik/files folder too. don't know why but now I made sure there's no textures there Smile

Let me know how it goes.
