I couldn't save missions on this map until I used a trick I learned back when the Hokkidao map was released. I thought I would give it a try. Here's what I did.

1. Open your bldconf.ini file.
2. Copy/Save (somewhere) the line (builder.PlMisDestruction) and 'Save' your modified bldconf.ini .
3. Open the FMB. Now you can make and save your mission.
4. Once saved close the game and return to your bldconf.ini file, open it and replace (builder.PlMisDestruction).

You can now play the mission. To add/delete objects/aircraft/skill levels/targets etc. or to change 'Conditions' just repeat the above steps.

Cumbersome, true....but it works.

Map works flawlessly ! Installed on AAA UI 1.11 ( properly patched) and have no issues whatsoever !

For those who aren't using AAA UI 1.11 : You must have fabianfreds Thailand objects properly installed ( mod folder + update static.ini) !

thank you for this gem

Also just D/L it, and it works beautifully! (Then I run UI 1.1, patched - a must.) It is a wonderful piece of work. I have built a JAAF campign for Thailand map, and now I just have to build one for this GREAT (inall respects) map!

Many, many, many thanks for an amazing first effort! :OO

Thank you all for the praise and kind words. And thank you "Boris" and Fly Zo for giving some tips.
I thought I should release this map so that everyone could use it. I don't have as much free time as I had when building this map so there it is, warts and all. With a map of this size it could take a lifetime to perfect. There are some flaws, hopefully they're not too noticeable, but maybe you can overlook them.

My main goal was to get a decent looking workable map so that I could start making historical missions on. I wanted plenty of airfields, roads, railroads and infrastucture for ground targets as destruction of these targets was a big factor in the weakening of the Japanese army.

The map is big enough to where you can re-enact allied long-range bombing of Rangoon, etc. or vice versa with Japanese bombers from south and central Burma to bomb allied bases on the west coast.
There are plenty of airfields to takeoff from to defend against bomber and fighter sweeps. Anyone who has read AIR WAR FOR BURMA knows that there was a lot of action between these air forces.

BurmaLower is big but some of the Thailand area was actually cropped off by Asheshouse (thanks!) to make the map smaller. This should help to make it load easier, along with keeping objects to a minimum. If mission builders want more eye candy then that can be done with the FMB.

I'd like to thank FabianFred once again for the efforts he put into this and everyone else who helped me to make this possible.

Thank you... I think you have achieved your goal.

A good map....lots of nice airstrips...(glad you got rid of that awful large plate strip i used in my thailand map).

looking at some of the smaller rivers which just show up on the 2D map....and then on the ground.... you can easily see the route of the river by the slightly different texture and the contours.... I DO wish we could cut rivers in 3D mode as easily as we can lay road or rail.

Excellent map working "out of the box" Big Grin , including the saving of the mission.

Laziness is the mother of progress. My QMB missions can be found here:

FabianFred, I didn't get rid of your large cat plate strip because it was ugly but because I thought it was slowing down frame rates. Maybe it was just the large concentration of your modded objects in some cities? Sorry, but I even deleted the Toungoo city plate and filled the area with stock buildings. Your buildings and trees are great but I just had problems with them and my comp. I know you spent a lot of time working on the eastern Burma area and I appreciate that. Your Mingaladon and Moulmein airfields remained pretty much untouched...thanks for the work on those!
I did have to re-draw alot of the roads/RR that were going up the sides of mountains. That was a big job! But I'm glad you had them already drawn in the general area where they needed to be. That helped alot.

About the rivers...I felt it was too difficult to trace the smaller rivers on to the 2-D map but realized, like you said, the river valleys are quite distinguishable on the 2D.

If some of y'all want to post some screenshots that would be nice too.

It occured to me that any missions written for the WIP version of my BurmaLower map....should still work on this map OK.... because only losing the East side shouldn't have affected co-ordinates at all.

I will try a couple of mine out and see..

Thinking about the main river shown on your 2D map in the Shan states...The Salaween River..... I did some quick work in Photoshop to the map_C yesterday and added it....looks OK....and any imperfections are hidden by the jungle cover.

I see you made your ed_maps from the map_t........ I always made my ed_maps from the terrain version of the google maps..... mainly because it shows the shape of hills which correspond with the 3D shape you see out of the cockpit window on the ground.
The modern roads shown are a bit of a pain but I ignored this fault. I tried cutting down my old BurmaLower ed_map01 to fit and left your ed_map02 in place so I get the best of both worlds..

If you want to try my new map_C I'll put it on my download site

I noticed that for one of your city textures you used... land/summer/sk_country_mount.tga

this is a european texture and the colours look a bit dull in comparison to the surrounding countryside.

To counter this...with my OJ map.....I brightened up this texture in Photoshop and copied it to my MAPMODS/maps/_Tex/land/summer folder as ... land/summer/fsk_country_mount.tga

if you have my OJ map you may already have this texture....in which case just add the 'f' in your load.ini file
