[MOD] Atmosperemod (off+online) wind,gust,waketurb etc
#16

this is a good mod, but there is one gripe with it.
the gusts are very unrealistic.

when you get a gust affect on a plane, it is not as instant as it is in the game, the gust affects the plane as a whole and does not fishtail the aircraft.
remember, a gust is a rapid build up of wind speed, not an instant hit on the rudder

thanks for infomation, but it is game's simplification. gust in this game just is adding new vector.
we disscused this problem in Russian forum when test this mode, and noone don't now other method to simulated gust. there were some ideas, but they are non-makeble or are unplayble because there are freezes and bugs in game. at this moment i can't do gust affects more really. now i havn't many time and try to do prop wash behind the planes.
if you have some ideas or can solve this bug please write Smile

maybe if you can make the gust affect the whole plane, instead of just the rudder, ie pushing the whole plane sideways, a gust of wind effecting a plane would not make the plane "fishtail" as it does now.
it seems that the gust as it is now, is only affecting the rudder of the plane and not working on the wole plane surface that is facing the wind direction ( causing the fishtail effect). this nearly caused me to go and by a new stick ( thinking this was the issue).

please dont get me wrong, overall, this is a good mod Big Grin its just those gusts spoil it .

Great mod for me and for my ff joystick. Only a stupid question: the mod have 5 parameters ( velocity, direction, top, turbulence, gust): can you write an explication of every parameter and the value min-max recommended?Compliments, now the game is for me more real! Sorry for bad english. Big Grin

full description is in readme to the old version of wind mode(v3 by Fireball) and you can read it here:
(The link is inoperative)

there some changes, but the general idea is the same.
you can read changes in this and old theme(url in 1st post)

i recommend use: velocity 4-10; gust 3-6; turb 1-2; windtop 7500+; cloudtype 1 or 4 Smile
i use this settings Smile

smokes are another type, it is affect.
it hasn't any mass, and it havent speed. so it's unreally add vector or coordinats to smokes.
it's a pity, but with current engine we hanent correct smokes.
so i recommend use velocity < 10.

------

now i have some stabilyty version of prop wash tail. in few days i start tests. and theme realese next version of the mode. i think, it will be final version and mode will be ready Smile

Please keep on with this Oleg.

What you are doing is really innovative and revolutionary.
I would offer to help test if required but time is a little limited currently.

I do notice that the current version writes the weather entries into the java logging screen at mission start (shft+tab). is your optimisation related to this ?

yes, in current version some parametres is imported in game-console(shift+tab)
it were made because it was first mode with atmosphere in online, so some pilots asked me to do some help. in next version there is only logged in console only cloudtop and cloudtype Smile
thanks to your help, but test are finished, and it will be realeased in few days, because i need to consulte with specialsts about coefficients Smile

Nice mod Smile
One cosmetic problem I noticed: the clouds are dark in "blind" weather and darker still in "rain/snow" (which is a good thing) but in "thunder" weather I find myself back in super-white clouds again. Shouldn't "thunder" clouds be darker than "rain/snow" clouds?
