Map texture .tga files (Re: Chroma key map mod)
#31

Little notice: it is better to place objects near the wall as close as possible. At the center of the map distance to wall is too big, and the fog in the air make walls much brighter then sky/ground, and thus keying much difficult.

Just a note that I've made a "blue_load.ini" and a "green_load.ini"

Changing the airfield tga textures to "all alpha channel" renders them (colourless) invisible , so no need to swap files if you're using either blue or green maps during a session

Sorry, i feel myself like a stupid, but i still can't understand about "all alpha channel' Sad
Where exactly I have to use the mark "-"? Should I rename runway texture files?(I see no way to control runway textures from load.ini)

I applied alpha mask to whole skin , making it transparent so useable for either map.

I renamed the blu.load and green.load to "blload.ini" and "grload.ini"

and made these entries in "all.ini"

Green_Dog Empty1a/grload.ini
Blue_Dog Empty1a/blload.ini

Hi Fisneaky and DogEater;

You guys did fantastic work, thanks!

I got going with your first green chroma map and it is working very well.

I am struggeling to get the later version running (blue and green map)

Is it possible to enable a more "user friendly" version where you have a "blue chroma map" and a "green chroma map" appear on the full mission builder map menu?

thanks

Thats what I did in the preceding post, (can send the clear runway files if needed.)

OK, transparent airfields works fine, but i can't find any all.ini in my mods/files folders. Is there any packs, contains this file? (or it was obsolete an thus removed from recent packs?)

And, i think, for "user friendly" version we have to find out how to make IL2 engine take transparent textures not exactly from game-root\Mods\MAPMODS\3do\airfield\ground, but from separate folder.
This is useful than you don't want to use different copy of a game folder and allow not to overwrite any modded or original textures.

Should be in "#:\'46 root folder\Mods\MAPMODS\maps

just delete any custom maps you're not using

If it's the only custom airfield texture you have just add the "-" to it's folder name.

Thx a lot again. (Well, i' just have to use may brains and just list all my maps) Smile

Quote:If it's the only custom airfield texture you have just add the "-" to it's folder name.

I mean that I want to use the airfield transparent textures and original texture simultaneously (accordingly, for the color and regular maps) so that users of the mod will not have to rename any folder.

This looks like a great movie-making tool. Thanks for all the effort Dogeater. I haven't tried this, but I'm sure I'll have a crack later.

I'm looking forward to what biltongbru comes up with

Any other aspiring movie-makers from this community should think about doing something a little different for the upcoming IL2 movie making competition!

viewtopic.php?t=5169

PS, thanks Don for liaising between the communities. I don't get into this forum much so your occasional winks are good for a heads up that new tools are being developed.

I am not entering a movie for the competition because I am a judge.

Glad to hear you are entering the competition. Have you made any other movies before this? Have you ever posted any at UBI moviemakers forum?

What do you mean 'freedom in video mixture process'? There is freedom in the movie competition, all you have to do is start with IL2 and after that you can do whatever you want to be creative.

Hmm, not me but two of my firends tell me that they are wants to participate in competition.
I've got created some movies (this, for example), but don't have enough time to create some
competitive movie this year. MB later...

We've got a lot discussion at fly-movies.ru forum about movie making and find out, that just IL-2 engine isn't enough for creating a good video. Now it's clear that you have to use lot of visual effects, some screenplay, nice cutwork, music, 5.1 sound etc.
But if you creating some ground scenes, the cubed ground objects will destroyed nice look(do you remember gunners). The way is to blend planes from il-2 with any sim with more realistic ground view. And chroma mod helps you to grab any objects from Il-2 engine without lot of tricks (do you know about rotoscoping, for example?). And this method with chroma key i called "freedom" - freedom to use even footage of real scenes and people. And that's was idea of chroma-mod.
I know, that it is temporary measure before SoW coming. But it can helps to make Il-2 movie making much longer, than it could be.
