letku Wrote:Unplayble, way too big for a older pc that excellent is the max settings you can have.

Mission building irretating as the mouse responds in 1-2 sec stutters, loading time really loooooooooong, close to 2 minutes.

No thanks for these huge maps.

Still have to give respect for your hard work .

I have the same issue in fmb but the mission seems to run just fine with four players in a coop i made to test the map.load time is a bit long 45 secs but so is the uni version install load time.2 year old home built pc of average gaming specs nothing fancy. memory 2 gig amd 3500+ 7950gtko
im going to try a few things see if i can get that stutter to go away in fmb.

Beautiful map. However i have the same issue as others. After I finish flying a mission and quit from FMB the game crashes to desk top- " memory error".

new version has been submitted and tested .... anytime now zipzapp will update d/l post with new link ...

for those with long loading time issues ( and maybe memory issues too) .....

1 go to map folder ( MODS\MapMods\Maps\zip_Alpen) , remove ed_m01.tga ( 28Mb) ( back it up somewhere ...) ,

2 make a copy of ed_map02.tga and rename it as ed_map01.tga

map and missions will load much much faster

regards

In FMB try disabling some of the objects visible - this stops the mouse problem !!

This map is really good. I'm very impressed by the level of detail in towns given the huge size of it. nice job, ZipZap.
I just want to point out one bug to be corrected. The lake near Friedrichshafen isn't right. There seems to be two layers to it. The plane takes off on the top layer but the wake appears on the lower layer, not necessarily corresponding to the location of the actual plane. That's not too bad but the problem comes when landing on the lake in a floatplane (there's a floatplane base there). The top layer of the lake isn't really visible. I was lowering myself to land but was aiming for the lower water level which is all I could see. Unfortunately I crashed into the the top layer and was destroyed.
Maybe these screenies will make it clearer.

Ok, tried fly_zo's tip editing tga to smaller size = fmb loading time dropped to 2 minutes.
Can't say how long mission loading times are because i can't make any missions at the moment.

Disabling objects doesn't help, mouse still stutters and has lag making fmb use impossible on alpen map.

No problems before on any other mod maps.

I'm sorry for the problems. The water-thing is easaly solved: Just switch to water=1 in your config.ini. I mentioned that in the main post. There will be no bow and stern wash than, but that's all.

I'm not shure about the fmb-problem. Seems the map needs a 256MB graphic board, do you use a 128 MB? If not, try this: Rename the actors.static. Start the game and the map (no actors ist needed here). Is there still that stuttering? If yes, your board may be to weak for the tecxures, if not, it may be realy a matter of the number of objects, although i think, only objects in sight and around count here. Pure size of the map does'nt matter, i think.

Update will take one more day, i detected an other flaw, so i have to ask poor fly_zo for a update version again. I'm very sorry about this. Had added some bob textures to the wrong layer and noticed that just today. This time i will look twice.

Ok, without actors.static load time 30sec.
No stutter on large map view but when i zoom in up close there is a small latency in mouse movement.

Only 128mb 3d card and it's an old agp model.
It's simply too uber for my pc.

Don't be sorry, be creative

First off.. this is a gorgeous map!
beautiful to fly over.. I spent quite a while going over all the airfields marking which ones AI could most likely use .. for use in DCG campaigns.

But its so RAM intensive.. its hard to do much with it.
We've tried some coop DCG campaign stuff with it, but even on machines with 2 and 4 GB of ram and 8800GT cards, everyone gets stutters every 60 seconds or so.
Frame rates are decent.. but because of the ram hit.. we have the stutter problem.

Could it be possible to split this sucker down the middle and release and east and a west half?

I found it very challenging to take off in a BF 109 G from that very airstrip Confusedhock: Perhaps because of the altitude, I had trouble getting up and flipped at the end of the runway- but instead of ploughing into the ground I sped over a cliff- at which point I was able to have enough time to recognise my inverted position soon enough to right myself and get my wheels up

I have a track of it I may post as a short video as a 'hair-raising take off.'

And here it is at this thread

Loving the map Zip Zapp!
