i think HSFX 4.1 is a vast leap in every area except one.

where are hero's fantastic engine noises? the merlin in this sounds like my dad's lawnmower.

looks and sounds seem great, but I don't like the way it's modded the online DF servers scoreboard.
it would be fine if everyone could only see the players name and score, but i don't think this is the case.
I really don't see any good reason for this part of the mod. Is there any way to turn it off??

Those are known as JAFA sounds and I modded them to work with the game.

The new sounds are bs....NONE of the planes sound good, I dont know who selects the sounds for these mods but they must be deaf....but the rest of the mod is AMAZING, I can stop playing...

The new pack is great, IMO, aside from a few things:

- the reskinned maps do look very nice from low altitude, but when at 4-5 km or so, it shows that the transitions between textures are far too abrupt...

- nothing against the new (old) GUI, but my eyes hurt :-? Any advice how to revert it to 4.09 stock?

- sounds (some of them, at least)

But faster loading times and improved stability make up for it Smile

This came with the carrier take off mod, can there sg be done about it ? Second issue, the A6M2 and A6M5 sounds inside the cockpit, they are..electronic...kinda distorted...apart from these ( up to this moment ) I must say, congratulations to everybody who worked on this, it is just great, amazing, etc... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
Yes, one request only, for a detailed step-by-step tutorial on how to add mods - planeshine , reduced airfield radius ,convoy mod ,etc..( I read the Uranium effects pack is not compatible with HSFX Sad Sad )
I found some threads on this, but ,to be honest didn't really get it...So, thank You in advance and congratulations again Big Grin Big Grin ...

Try flying the spit or hurri.. the in cockpit sounds are awful.. outside sounds good, but as a rule I'm always 'in cockpit' so at the moment its destroying any realism I'm trying to achieve.
Plus, I don't know how to get at the presets or samples to change anything.. very frustrating!

People making noises because there are things they don't like about HSFX, and also don't have the same point of view as yourself doesn't immediately 'have' to be classed as bitching and howling!
There are many genuine concerns on many threads now cropping up, because many people are used to having complete control over their installs.. now, not so easy to accomplish when you are being told this is the 'way forward' for all to standardise everything.
Standardisation is not always for everyone is it.. if it was, we would have stuck with Olegs original standard version wouldn't we, and we wouldn't have this site either..
Of course HSFX has many good features, goes without saying.. but those of us that want relevant info on how to employ our own touches on this to make it more personal to ourselves need guidance..
At the moment, I've read through many threads trying to gain info, and there are about three different methods so far on how to get mods to work.. if it's unification thats being bandied about at the moment and is the watchword we need to observe.. lets have a unified lesson on how add our own sounds and mods, because all we are hearing at the moment is just bung your new mod in a MOD folder and it will work.. Well, no it won't, depending on what you are trying to install it can be far more complex, so lets have a definitive process for adding maps, sounds, objects etc.. cos at the moment its suck it and see.

Howlin, I agree with You, HSFX is great . As for the sounds, I didn't say I don't like them, I said there was some problem with the file. Since then I realized there is sg wrong with the direct X installed and probably that's what caused the distortion .So, I wasn't bitchin , sorry if anybody had that impression. HSFX has it's flaws, I suppose they'll be gone soon, but as a whole, it's great...
Cheers

Personally, I would be alot more happier with a new 4.09m version of the UI.
Only if 1.2.5 was released as a stand alone too...

HSFX contains just too much mods for me which I dont need or dont like.
And It's buggy, it has a lots of errors...
With the UI I was able to remove mods which I didnt need.

It has one big advantage over the UI, and thats the fast loading times, but I still think the UI is better.

Much better...
