hey guys,

well im very veryy.....very new to modding and i would like some help please if possible.

firstly i downloaded the mod activator and i have now just downloaded this spit mod. i opened it and it did its stuff and installed. But im now stuck on the file entries. I have.. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\STD
but after that it does not have /com/maddox/il2....etc
if anyone could lend a hand in teaching me how to properly add mods it would be much appreciated Big Grin

also .... i probably sound like a noob but how do you add the text into plane_ru.properties

help would be very appreciated

ok simple way to do it, in your IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder search for the 3 following files. "air.ini" "plane_ru.properties" "weapons_ru.properties" They can be openable and editable by notepad. Then just add the lines to the bottom. Don't change anything else in the files though, you don't make new weapons etc by just editing them so don't try or your game may crash Wink

Hello, and a beautifully done aircraft! I've put in a few of mods from AAA...so I know a little but not much about mod installation. I'm having a wee bit of an indecision at this moment. I've downloaded the the plane in my MODS folder, I took the STD folder from my back-up copy previous to my now HSFX 4.1 modified IL-2, and copied and replaced the STD air.ini, ru_properties, et al. with that from the Files folder. I then copied and pasted over that with the lines for the air.ini, ru_properties. for the new Spit, and continued to download the new button to replace the one in the MODS folder only.

The game crashed at 60%, so it is most likely due to me not replacing the HSFX 4.1 "original" button in Files with the new one for the Spit? To reiterate for better clarity, I only replaced the button in the MODS folder and not the one in Files. Am I supposed to have only one button? And do I replace the button in Files with the new button? I have, as well, a copy of the air.ini, ru_properties, etc. in my MODS folder and my Files folder. Sorry for my rattling, I'm just want to make sure what I'm doing before I mess up my game. Thank you... Smile

a copy of the correct buttons files in your mods folder should be fine. I duno, if you want backup the files one and replace it with this one.

Thank you, kindly. I made a backup and replaced the old button with the new and it worked, I guess i should've just done that and been done with it. I wasn't sure, though, and needed reassurance. Sweet plane! Big Grin

Hi guys... (Raptor)

I haven't flown in a while and I am trying to get back into it and I have a lot of questions.

I am running v4.08... +Sound Mod 9.2. I am not sure if I have a UI or UP or HSFX.
But maybe you can figure it all out for me

I just downloaded a few new planes...
(Spit XIV, the new Spit Vc's and MkVIII and the Spit XVI) The Spit XIV and VIII work well no probs at all.
But the Spit XVI's are having the same issues NightJar and FlashSim were having.

I had the 60% load crash - I fixed that with the new SAS buttons you recommended.
( It may be importrant to note that I do not have a GUI Folder in my MODS Folder,
so I replaced it in my - IL2 1946/Files/GUI/game - folder)
And that fixed the 60% crash as you said it would.

So the game loaded and I can see the XVI in the plane selection list... BUT It doesn't show the pic
of the XVI and the loadout field is blank on all XVI variants.

So I downloaded the US_weapons_AAA Mod and put the folder in my MODS folder and still no joy.

So my questions are :-

Do I need to have 4.09 installed?
Do I need HSFX or UI?
What are HSFX and UI?

If I do need any of the above, please tell me how to go about it in the most efficient way
'cause here in SA we have shitty ADSL Lines and my max download speed is only 48Kb p/sec.

I am a Spit nut and I would love to shoot the crap outta a few Nazi's in your beautiful looking Spit XVI.

The original post with the US_wepons_AAA mod does not work properly. Please go to the front page and download the weapon classes from here http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1496.0.html and put that into your mods folder. Just the weapons classes then you should be fine and delete the us weapons AAA mod one.

Thanks Raptor... That did the trick...

She flies well, especially the CW and I love the 4 cannons. It's nice to have
another heavy hitting option besides the slower Vc4

You can really feel the extra weight and the cockpit is a real step up in both
aesthetics and resolution. Thanks for doing it for the community.

I have one question. The in-cockpit engine sounds are not there. I can hear the
out of cockpit engine sound but not inside... Weird. Every other sound is present
except that one... Any thoughts?

_ED - I see that we have exactly the same avitar. You are far more active on the
site so I guess I dont mind changing it. But before I do, you must do something for me...
I asked a few questions in my post above, If you will answer them for me, I will consider
that a fair deal.

It uses the same engine sounds as the either the spit 9s or the p51s so unless there is a problem with the internal sound on those aircraft there shouldn't be a problem with this one. I dunno why you have that problem but everyone else seems to be fine.
