Modern Jet Fighters

Well, in my opinion, it is a great opportunity to complete the planes list in Ill2.
I never dared to post a question about this topic simply because I don't wanna be chased by an angry mob with torches and pitchforks(or propeller shafts) Confusedmackdown:
I think it should stick to real planes, prototypes and what if planes, no sci.fi stuff.
I would like to see the mig19/21/25, mirageIII, F8 crusader,A7 corrsairII and anything Vietnam and Israel 60/70 planes!!! 8)

I think it would be great to expand to have the F-100-NA, F-104-LO, F7U, Mig 19, and the Mig 21, but I do think we should start there at a minimum before pushing into the modern age. It just makes sense to go that way. The more recent planes are, the faster and more complicate they are. Sure, if you can do it, then go for it, I'm just concerned. I mean, can you realistically make the FM for a Fighting Falcon or are we looking at putting a YP-80 FM with an General Dynamic F-16 Block Whatever body?

Yap yap... it's the same story with the bleeding Korea stuff, where are the Lancaster, Whirlwind, Piaggio P.108, Fairey Barracuda, nearly all of the water based aircraft? the Blackburn aircraft? etc. etc. etc.

There is a fudgeload of planes that are absolutely essential to a WW2 simulation that we don't have, so less time should be wasted on this work, and more spent on projects of planes that were relevant to the conflict this game is originally based on and therefore has the engine DESIGNED for!
Advanced avionics simply don't work in the present version, for frack's sake we haven't even got the most basic navigation instruments in proper working order...

Go build them yourself and stop moaning at us! I don't know how you've got the nerve to tell me what i can and can't do with my time. It's a game. If you want them so bad get off your lazy arse and build them!

Hey, watch it punk. You don't just go and attack moderators. Learn some respect. We have the right to be skeptical. You are attempting a fourty year jump for the earliest models of the planes you are attempting. Flight sims come with an era attatched for aircraft types. It is not common thought for a P-51D-20NA to be in LOMAC and it is reverse logic to put the Falcon and the Hornet in IL2 since IL2 is techincally built on the premise of aircraft types from the WWII era. It is not designed to handle the advanced avionics or weaponry of modern fighters. They can be modeled, but not necessairly modded for accurate flight and since we are missing numerous type specific aircraft from the designed set for IL2, people are questioning your attempts. If you can figure it out, then all the more power to you. I do have a word of advice. You may not want to make your project so public until you have actual results on avionics and weaponry and you do not want to lash out at people on this thread. That's what my brother did and it got him into a world of trouble. Just watch your back, kid... You might get burned if you aren't careful.

I play with fire carefully... I'm not in violation of rules.

Not you, the modeler...

Ohh... He's playing with high explosives and detonators, no matter how right he is. Me and him are both sick of Viper for different reasons.

Not so natural as much as aided departure unless some substantial updates happen within a relatively short time... for instance such a basic addition as ailerons... not to mention, as a previous poster pointed out, AVIONICS

I know you might not like the criticism very much, and taking a poke at me without knowing me is a bit __________... eerh... I'll leave you to fill in the blank as appropriate.

I do dabble with 3d software from time to time, but I don't gloat about my work in 3d software, because I'm a newbie and I'm only learning by teaching myself by reading manuals, reading on this site as well as others, and using videos on youtube. I do, however, have the presence of mind to know that my work is unlikely at best to be accepted as a mod. Even if it would be, then I'd be reluctant to release it because of the flaws that I know exist in my work. Both due to lack of reference as well as due to lack of skill.

I do for instance have the major elements of the Fairey Barracuda Mk.II made, wings, fuse, tail, and with a bit of detail added to some of the parts. But it's a project that I'm working on for fun and experience, not just to get attention.

I am also working on another aspect of this game that I am not at liberty to divulge at present time, but rest assured, the fruits of that effort WILL be released at some point.

Now that I think I have rebutted at least some of the garbage you tossed at me, good luck with your project and good day to you!

As a side note, I don't mind the personal attack, I've had them many a time and it usually boils down to the fact that I come across as very blunt on the forum from time to time; bare in mind that english is not my native language...

Cheers

First of all, Im not doing this for attention, I'm doing this because i have a genuine interest in these aircraft. I AM NOT putting up with somebody telling me what i can do with my time. Thats just insane. What right have you got to do that?

Also, Why should this topic be removed if no substantial updates are made quickly? If you work in 3DS Max as you say you do, Then you will know it takes time. There are topics around here that have dormant for months and suddenly you get an update.. Why should this be any different just because you don't like the project?

Thirdly, If a moderator wants to tell me what i can and can't do in my own free time, Then he will get told to do one. I don't care who it is. NOBODY has the right to tell me what i can do with my free time.

Hey! Now that is good news.

IL2 isn't Flight Simulator X or LOMAC. Oleg's sim is good at portraying the combat of WWII and can handle what the Canvas Knights and the Korea aircraft builders are doing. Modern aircraft aren't the sims forte... and their addition, in my opinion, strays too far from the sim's strengths.

There is so much of WWII that can still be added to the sim... adding an F-18 is like showing up to a Christmas party with a Dracula costume on.

Spot on!
