Gents, all I can say is "Thankyou!"

At last the P-47 starts to look like it should, and all thanks to your dedication. I'm really excited about this project and really, really can't wait until it comes to fruition...bravo chaps!

Did you figure out what the values in TextureCoordScale mean?

Does this allow me to use a bigger texture for another project?

The Jug stuff is much anticipated, keep up the good work!

TextureCoordScale is just the number of times the image is to be displayed. 2.0 is Two images across and Two down on the object. 0.5 is half the image across and half the image down on the object.

I have found with cockpits anyways, just increasing the resolution of the image tga packs more pixels into the same area of the given object that it is projected onto. It increases file sizes but gives you the opportunity to design a higher resolution image. Only problem is the modellers patched Large and Small object textures into the same tga's. To better render a large object you "SuperDetail" any associated smaller objects in the tga.

Good luck with your project. Smile

Taurus, thanks so much for that. I was not going to spend the time to test the mat file (I have other things to do right now witht he Slot), but your answer made it easy to fix the plantation plate idea in a few minutes.

I was able to dig out the files I needed to transfer the sight from the SBD-5 to the P47 cockpit. Big Grin Since this is the closest match to the original Mk 8 sight, I may go with it on the D22 and D27.

As was pointed out earlier in this thread, the N3A gunsight would be the correct sight to use for the D10. The closest match I have for the N3 is the L3 sight from the P38J, which is OK, but I would like to have an N3 if possible. :?

If someone knows of another plane in IL-2 that uses the N3 gunsight, please let me know, I would like to take a look at it. Is the gunsight on the P40-E an N3? Thanks to Spoon and others for the historical background info on correct sight for each model.

Oh yeah, I have a question for you Taurus.

The mounting arm for the gun sight is generally too low for the replacement gunsights. Do you know if this arm could be adjusted up without throwing other things out of alignment? It would be nice if it were meshed individually and I could just move it up a bit. I suppose that it is part of a larger unit that can't be moved without goofing other things up. Since you are immersed in this right now I though that you might know.

It could be done by chopping the tga's alpha channel so the arms texture doesn't appear all the way down although it is physically modelled by the .msh. A carefull retexture of the arm should correct anything odd looking. Can't guarantee it without seeing how bad it is.

It would be so good to be able to shuffle the .msh around, I've spent much time on that with no joy.

I got back to working on this project a little more tonight. For the D27 I was able to find the necessary mesh files for the SBD5 sight. The textures I had to mix and match from other places, but I think the overall appearance is pretty good. For the D10, I took a sight from the P40E that looks very like an N3 sight. I'm still not very good with alpha layers so they still need some work. Also, I need to go through the damaged versions for both. Thats all.

k, Anyone doing work on the p-47 cockpit will appreciate the backing. I can only say from my perspective that this will be a long and labourious project to get it right! But it will happen.

Status of 3d modelling of the panel so far. (I will make one instrument only to experiment with.)

Lighting is wrong, there is no colour, texture, lighting, manipulation, etc, etc.

So much work to do...
