Sorry for any trouble. But the B-36 and C-97 were built in large numbers and would fit in with the late 40's early 50's era. the XC-99 is the only '46' plane. And I'd also like to say, although many artists depict the Nakajima G10N1 with and ordinary cockpit. The original Nakajima design has a glazed cockpit like the B-29's (The Japs only had to look up for inspiration. )

Hey people, listen up, I've got a great pretty revolutionary idea. How about making planes that actually flew combat missions ?
There are may scenarios that we're only lacking a plane or two to represent accurately in this game, yet it looks like what most people care about it paper planes that never took off the drawing board. The 'Mavis' may have been converted to transport duties from 1942 on, but up until then it was the scourge of the RAF in the Benghal, carrying out harassing bombing raids on Ceylon, India, etc... and driving both day Hurricane and night Beaufighter pilots nuts over there. The G10N1 did what exactly ?

I agree completely Nico...the name of the game may be IL2: 1946, but it was originally designed to be a WWII sim. The only time I ever fly any of the 46 planes we already have is when I'm bored and want to shoot up some easy targets with an uber-plane that never actually flew. 99% of my time is spent flying QMB missions with the mid-war pacific planeset, and either the H6K or the KI-48 would fit perfectly into that period. My vote is for one of these two a/c, let's get the WWII planeset finished before we start on anything else. 400 downward-firing guns could be fun, but it would only be useful for fantasy/uber missions, while the historical planes could be used in countless scenarios across the theater...

That said, you are entirely free to build whatever plane you want. Just please consider giving priority to planes that flew and which were the more widely used. If there is more interest in 400 downwards-firing guns than in the backbone of the IJN's heavy bombing, transport and general purpose aviation in the first years of the Pacific War, then so be it. I just don't think it's worth the time.

Besides, what ifs call what ifs. If you do make the G10N1, then someone will want a P-55 Ascender to shoot it down, and in turn there will be requests for Japanese what-if fighters etc... Where does it end ?

A P-51, Spitfire XIV, YP-80, F9F, BI-6, P-47, Whirlwind and Meteor (when they come out) will do the job Porco Rossi. Big Grin Let the people whine we already have fighters that can blow it out of the sky. And by the way a P-55 is way to slow. And and you cannot deny the fact that the top two highest voted planes are the G8N1 and the G10N1. They did nothing but according to the votes the community would love to see them more than a historical plane. However I agree with you that priority should be given to the 'historical's'. My vote is still for the G10N1 however. The facts and figures that go with it are just awesome: Length: 150ft 11 inches Wingspan: 206ft (wider than a 747's) Armament: 44,000 lb's of bombs, 4x 20mm cannon (400 7.7mm downward firing machine guns) Range: 19,400km and so on

PorcoRosso Wrote:The G10N1 did what exactly

It won the hearts of this community. H6K: great for mission builders and the historical player G10N1: A massive and amazing monster to fly (and shoot at) which will have you at your computer drooling at it for hours.

I remember reading a book about the bombing of Hiroshima. It talked about how some people heard rumors that the Japanese government was going to attempt to drop an atomic bomb on a US Territory. The G10N1 would have been great for this. Yeah, yeah, yeah... You're probably thinking that the Japs were nowhere near having a nuke ready. Then again, you probably haven't heard that Germany tested a very small and very dirty atomic device before the war ended. I'd love to have a Mavis for the historical aspect, but the G8N and the G10N would be fun to fly just from an aviation perspective. I love aviation first and foremost, so I'd naturally perfer a G8N or G10N just to spice things up. Besides, I'd love to take them down with this 'Stang.

I don't know what the designation would be, but I like to call her the P-51N. She sports forward-swept wings, tricycle landing gear, a turbojet engine, and NACA air inlets. Wow, now we're way off topic.

Jaypack44 and PorcoRosso, I understand you pretty well!

Yes, a reason why we all are here, flying IL2, is because it is the most accurate ww2 simulation for personal use worldwide!

But we should not forget another reason... I think communitys, especially this here, give another thing to that game...

I really respect what most of the pilots here want. So i stick to the winner of the vote, not important for me which it will be.

I will build this plane, to be part of what I like. The community.

In easier words: I just want to give a bit back to aaa

+1 for the Yokosuka D4Y Suisei (Comet) !!!

Although that she was a Dive-Bomber, in 1942 she was faster as the most Japanese fighterplanes like the A6m3 or Ki43 I  :!:
She had a excellent rate of climb and flow like a fighter !

A Great little Bomber !

Have a nice day, Blackbaron
