Official 4.09 Coming soon

I look at it this way, Oleg sees the potential of the Mods, but has no real desire to keep playing in this little sandbox anymore. But someone else said; 'well I'll finish this sand castle if you don't mind and I'll let you see what I can do with it before I show everyone else', 'Oleg says very well but I don't want to really get into that again I've a bigger sandbox now'. The new people have been following the modded content with keen interest and don't really want to alienate them and besides Oleg can see what the potential buyers of his new product may be interested in. So they finish the work and add some things that are really needed (like independent throttle control, nevermind the Radar) and they show Oleg and he says 'Impressive, go forth and multiply' you have my blessing. So I think if some of them are hovering around the area looking about and are welcomed with applause and respect maybe we can make nice, nice and blend everything together, Hmm.

What a fantastic flight simulaltor this has turned out to be. Still surprising us after 8 years!
The new 409 planes look just tremendous - and I'm here cos' I just LOVE aircraft - especially any with props!
Thanks to Oleg for making this all possible , and thanks to the AAA team for their devotion to his idea.

Doolittle81 Wrote:It's silly, in my opinion, that 1C refuses to recognize all the AAA MODders for having saved his IL2 series....throughout 2008-2009 at least, while he dedicated his efforts to other profit-making Games and to SOW:BOB development. This 4.09 patch should have been finalized hand-in-hand with the AAA (UI) MODders...

A smattering of new Eastern front and Italian and Czech planes, and some minor tweaks here and there such as of the QMB, will not induce me to delete all the wonderful AAA-hosted MODs. imho

Slow your roll there... I don't think that will even be an issue.. and lets get one thing straight.. AAA did not "save" the series.. it may have taken it in another direction.. a good one but had there been no mods at all I still would have been flying 4.09b1m.. and I am not alone either. This sim is STILL .. totally stock the best WWII sim to date... To give credit where it is due.. modding has made it even mo' better... but AAA by no means saved the sim and AAA is not the only modding site for this sim..... This sim has always and always will stand very sturdily on it's own two feet.

The fact that most of the TD members from my understanding are former modders says more about Oleg's opinion of mods.. He wants the sim to be honored and the standards that he set ... and I bet if we took a roll call of all the TD members who were modders, most of their mods were top notch.. which is not to take anything away from other modders who are not on TD but let's face it... if the sim had not been hacked there would in all likelyhood be no TD... so for anyone TD or otherwise to suddenly develop wings and halos or start that whole modders vs the world BS again... is just that BS and it needs to just stop.

Right now. Along with that whole legal illegal debate... Oleg's primary concern, at least from my understanding, was that the online integrity of the sim remain intact.. For the most part that has happened..

We all appreciate this sim.. and we all want what's best for it...

I look at it this way.... perhaps the modders at AAA can join forces to some extent with TD... That's what I'd like to see... I have no intention of deleting any of the mods that I have... I will try to install the patch over my modded install (backed up of course..) If it works great... if not then I will do a clean install and try to install the mods... if they work great.. if not I'll just have two installs.. but either way I will continue to enjoy this great sim every chance I get.

If compatibility becomes an issue, I will leave my game as-is with the AAA mods and forget the TD stuff. From what I've seen of the patch, it won't even be a contest. Besides, I am looking forward to flying a more accurate P51.

I'm so sorry that TD has failed to please you. But we didn't know that there was a contest going on. What was the contest about? The one that adds most "new" planes wins? I do hope you wasn't too disappointed when MG released all the previous patches. They contained only about 99% of the models & code which are now recycled into "new" modded planes.

But I'm sure that you will be very happy when AAA gives you another new flyable plane by adding a one line of code to lets say Re.2000 or G.55 java class.

Viikate, be sure, many here are eagerly awaiting the Daidalos production.

The mod scene seems to be fragmenting and some mod release packages are severely bloated so Daidalos sending some new content our way is most welcome.

I am sure there will be almost immediate ability to add mods, the best of which seem to be some of the new maps and some effects and added features.

And it is so simple to maintain 2 copies of the game that a clean official copy is almost a given.

Pass on my thanks to the Daidalos team, from one heavily into mod use.

It really is quite amazing the strength of opinion these matters brings out in people. It says a great deal about what Oleg Maddox has acheived with il2 - it really isn't 'just a game'.

I am convinced that Olegs stance on modding is a blessing - even now, with modding possible. By design new content is difficult to add - this mostly ensures that what is imported into the game is of high quality and by virtue of the strict rules at AAA very few people are able to circumvent what was the original intent of his rules, online play has not been damaged by modding - in fact quite the opposite.

I really hope that they don't try to make the current mods incompatible with 4.09, aside from the fact that it probably wouldn't stop modder very for long... I'm sure that Oleg can see that modding has improved his already amazing simulator and as long as modding is still controlled sensibly by the community then it will also have extended its lifespan far beyond what it would have been.

Oleg Maddox and AAA... they might not see eye-to-eye, but they make a hell of a team - don't you think?

Viikate,

I for one, and alot of my friends will be taking the copy we made of our IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder patched to 4.08 official and upgrading "clean" to 4.09 official

That's nothing against AAA or IL-2 mods, and I'll switch out my current UI 1.1.1 409b1m IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder to to play on some servers that I like and might be slow in upgrading

It's great to see that Oleg hasn't buried the il2 series, and has given new life to it in the form of the new patch.

I'll definatlly be installing this patch as I can't wait to get my hands on those Fokkers and the new versions of the I16. Some brilliant Winter War missions will be on the cards im very sure. And TRIGGERS! Confusedhock:
The only thing worrying me is the compatability with mods, obiouslly there will need to be edits made to the STD files but what about the .sfs files and others? Whatever files the patch changes I'm sure the modders will find a way round them Wink.

Posted today on the yellow board in the Team Daidalos sticky.

Yeah .. in responce to my pleading that the recon triggers be included for 4.09, which they won't be due to Team Dailados making other big changes to the AI along with the triggers, and those changes will still take some time.

soon ? .. 2 weeks of course

WWFlybert , no way will it be: "2 weeks of course" , we all know the proper time frame is: "2 weeks, be sure! Smile

Maybe they will release their 2nd update soon after the initial 4.09 so the triggers will be available to mission makers.
