The P-47 deserves it.

UBI and 1C have continued to decline updating some very bad graphics for this very important bird for what ever reasons. Thank god we now have the tools to fix a brilliant sim.

Too bad BOB will be an uptextured IL2. Mark my words...

I'm sure that all of the planes that are included in BOB will be of superb quality. Will the P47 be included? I'm not holding my breathe. Maybe it will be in an update 2 years down the line. Maybe IC/Oleg will get back to the Pacific 5 years from now. All I know is that I'm through with waiting.

Thanks, At this stage it is purely to render the necessary textures to replace the existing ones at higher res. No model importing just yet but one day I hope so.

Did you get the gunsight files alright? I hope they work on your machine.

When I release the gunsight mod I would like it to progress as follows: P47-D10 (N3 sight), P47-D22 (Mk8 sight), P47-D27(Mk8 sight) and P47D late (K-14 sight). I think I figured out how to use the next layer of files, so that I could do this in a single mod (I would need Mr. Jolly's blessing as the K14 work was his).

I'm curious to know what program are you using to produce the 3D textures that you have posted? Have you seen the new developments in the 3D area coming out of Blechley Park? Maybe your Uber pit will be possible after all Smile

I found this discussion of gunsight position in the P47 and P51 models in IL2. The contention in this post is that the gunsight and eye position are modelled too low. Maybe some of you guys could take a look at it and tell me what you think. The author provided some good info in his post.

poncho...looks like a very strong argument for raising the site. The site is teh one reason I rarely will fly a razorback and I fly a jug 99% of the time anywhere.

The pics do seem to show the gunsights sitting high.

I got a first render for the panel but there are artifacts, yet to get it in game for some screenies. Still plenty of modelling work to be done, just wanting to see if it is feasible.

Getting the hang of the rendering process. 1024x1024 seems to be the limit for tga resolutions in IL-2 Cry First layup of the panel in game. Gunsight thanks to Poncho!

I plan to upload a beta of the P47 gunsight mod on Friday. This version should give you the N3 gunsight for both of the razorbacks, and the MkVIII sight for the D27 and the D Late.

With so many variations of the sound mod out there. I think that I need to get this out to uncover any compatibility issues with various mod installs.

For the final release I hope to have the N3 sight for the D10, the MkVIII sight for the D22 and the D27, and the (Mr. Jolly's) K-14 sight for the D-Late. Plus in the final version the textures will be improved. The textures in the beta are still a nice upgrade from the ones we've been looking at for all these years though.

And there is no need for 1024x1024 sized tga files. Everything can be done with 512x512 (originals is 256x256) beside that memory saving is biiiiig Big Grin There is no great diference between 1024 and 512 in IL2.

I assume that BoB SOW will have 1024x1024 pxl sized internal textures.
