My toes got hurt when my jar drop on them!!
Just plain gorgeous. One of the best (if not the best) map I've ever seen.
BTW: Thanks for sharing the textures.

So...you guys want BIGGER maps? Do all your image processing in
Photoshop, because GIMP and Irfanview just dont cut it, they cause loading errors because they cant generate the map files properly.
Hopefully I can still use the actors.static file for my current Slot map...That way I wont have to redo Henderson and Lunga like above...that took a whole afternoon and I'm not even done yet! If I do have to remake everything from scratch, well I know you guys are patient
So you'll just have to wait.

Do the best you can, we'll wait, appreciate all your efforts. It's not that we've waited a long time, most of us just thought it would never happen. Still hard to believe. Just curious though, I really like the "scruffy" appreance of some of the airfields like "Impal Main" on the Burma map & "Banff" on the Norway map. Has anyone given thought to useing ones like these? Or is this even possible?

Well, whenever I wanted to save straight to TGA, seems that GIMP would ruin the processing during the save and would add all kinds of 1970's tie-dyed colours to my map_h and map_t files. Seems that GIMP will only save to TGA as long as your file size is under a certain amount...but dont know how much.
Saving to bmp in gimp then converting to tga with Irfanview didnt work either. While I did get better results, the game would never recognize my files after processing them with Irfanview.

Henderson and Lunga are done:
I just need to add the Seaplane base on the Northwest corner of Santa Isabel, then I have to do the airfields in the Russell Islands and then on Bougainville.

Seems to me that Oleg shot himself in the foot in terms of what the sim could have been, keeping the IL2 sim 'closed source' except to a select few map-makers and outside developers, judging by the screenshots.. well done, look forward to flying above it.
