Speaking of objects, how long do you think it will be before we see the new soldier objects in erm, unexpected, postions? :lol:

..and it's those little features that are bringing the Maps alive for me. The textures look amazing particularly the palette, but it is when you get in close that you notice the little details. Grave yards, perimeter fences, haystacks etc. all in all a superb job. There's a real ambiance around the place now Big Grin

[Image: slovakia1.jpg]This could almost be an FPS game. As others have said, the detail when you get down low is brilliant. I especially liek the washing lines, toilets at every house and the airfields are great. Simple but the textures are blended into the surrounding landscape very well. If BOB is this good then it'll be great.

I would like to know this too. Could someone who knows how to work the sfs extractor look at the i18n/maps.ru file and the maps/all file and tell us hoe we can rename / reposition them in the list? I worked hard to reorder the maps in my list, but now I cannot use it unless I go without being able to use the maps in FMB.

Anybody got these files or know how?

On the other hand villages and towns on Basarabia are terrible in my oppinion. Ghost towns and ghost villages. Deserted, lifeless, featureless... I started populating the villages, problem there are too many :evil:

Lets not forget that Slovakia project was started in 2005, Bessarabia only after the Italy map this year.

Yeah, Bessarabia is still good, just good in the terms of the 'old' maps. Slovakia is something altogether new.

Trooper - I posted the same pic at the Zoo with a comment almost identical to yours. It's a great map and a great skin - comes from the Zodiac series that was posted here.

That was done deliberately because Bessarabia is a very large map. It apparently has the same object count as Slovakia...more objects would have destroyed your fps.

Incidentally, the final version of Slovakia is going to have a reduction in object count (mainly taken from the large cities) of 10 - 15% in order to increase the minimum fps count. Personally, I'm not keen on that and would rather keep this beta map, although as others have pointed out there are missing textures in a few places.
