Vpmedia's tanker looks great!

It certainly does! Will it be possible to see other ships getting the same treatment? Maybe a few cloned Essex class and/or Jeep carriers?

spud, those are some really cool screenies.

Each time I fly over this map I am completely amazed at how the use of this SRTM data just brings the land to life. Most stock maps are ridiculous in terms of elevation. I wonder why they've never used this stuff before, its been available fore YEARS. I remember even scenery packs for MSFS 2002 offering 90m SRTM terrain mesh.

You guys do know what the SRTM data I'm using is accurate to within 15m? Wink

We really need to find a way to introduce extra Wood= ## slices. That way we can introduce taller, more credible forests. The trimmed minge is not really up to scratch anymore.

Can the islands get a hill?

Unfortunately, no. Sad

Would love to add some elevation to Gavutu, Tanambogo, and Makambo, but they are just not big enough. As soon as you try to raise the elevation, you end up with a rift.

The height map is 200m on a side. So if you raise a point in the middle of a little island, it makes a pyramid. If the sea is part of the 200m, it raises the sea. If the height points don't line up with the island, it could be far worse.

Hi,

On Iwo Jima is Mt Surbachi seperate object from the map if it is could it be used on the Islands or is it just part of the normal map?

Yeah, it is an object that is placed. Might be cool to make a couple small hill objects for the FMB...

Course they'd not take houses, etc.
