31st march sounds good....better than the 31st february...for BOBSOW
something will be out by then (the 31st) even if it's only the Aug 42 map/version.
This is really good stuff. I mean being diligent about what things were really like during the war.
Airbases and other areas being carefully studied for correct historical placement and such is just great.
I DL some of the other mod maps, and I'm sure hoping those original devs will work with others to perfect their maps in like fashion.
The default set colors and textures are for sure an improvement, but the airbases and towns were always a poor throw-together situation in IL2. Historically, the places where bases were maintained during different times in the war and actual locations are not acurate. Also the airbase layouts were not all alike. LOL
I'm not picking on anyone. I just hope those mod devs will have a willing spirit about letting others assist to make their already good contibutions better for everyone.
I've always had this penchant for historical accuracy, mostly because I'm a history buff.
Anyway, more power to the people doing these mods that will make the IL2 more of what we always needed.
Thanks to all
Oh, I don't think it would hurt to make beta releases. You can always put up a revised map and I don't think anyone will have a problem with DL updates. Users are going to find mistakes regardless of how well you think you have it done. That is just the way of working with software. MSFT has never released a perfected version of ANYTHING. LOL
Besides, Mission builders could start their work as well. Make a few explanations and let it rip.
Lovely screenshot spud. Sakai inspired?
Come the 31st, I think this site will be brought to it's knee's with all the traffic it's gonna get.
Another possible solution is using eMule or similar way to share it....
Not to worry, The Pacific Team has already coordinated with FA_Monguse, CO of The Fallen Angels, to provide additional download support on the Warwings site. Based on current configuration, the download for all five versions of the map would only be a 14-15 MB .zip file.
No doubt about it, these are done for the love of the sim. You probably counldn't pay 'em enough
to do it otherwise.
I hope there is no memory bug problem with the map. This is going to be true joy for SEOW.
Was there ever any data on the midway map minus thee quay objects?
That was it for problems with the Slot, and they are easy to select and delete if there is indeed a problem.
