The Slot

I have a suggestion for anyone making missions/campaigns for this new map.

Weapons... specifically weapon loadouts. Il2 does not always model accurate weapons loadouts. Take the Corsair as a good example. The F4U-1/Corsair I and F4U-1 in the game give the player the option of centerline and/or twin pylon drop tanks and bombs. The F4U-1 did not even have a centerline attachment point and neither had the twin pylons that were introduced with the -1C and -1D Corsairs. The F4U-1A was the first production Corsair to have a centerline attachment point for a drop tank which was field modified in early 1944 to carry a bomb.

My suggestion to the mission and campaign builders is to do some research and allow only correct load outs on the aircraft available in your missions and campaigns.

Stansdds, who is anxiously awaiting the release of the Slot maps.

thanks for the information, I searched the web about Ki-21 usage in ww2 but could only discover that this plane flew over Singapore, Burma and China and that it was used for some special "giretsu" missions

Big Grin Hello T and Team Pacific!!!! It looks like The Slot is in it's final development and will soon become a reality for the IL2 Community,I can't say enough about the developers here for all your dedication to the project, your hard work[actualy pioneering the way for future projects]and sacrifice of your personal time is very much appreciated.

Also I'd like to say how refreashing it is to come here and read the intelligent posts about WWII Pacific History without the usual whining and complaining that takes place in other places.

OK I'm all out of complimants and mushy talk!! See ya in The Solomons!!!!!!!! Big Grin

Get QMB+ installed. (assuming there is anyone not already using this great mod)

I am making a complete set of QMB missions so if you are ready with QMB+ you can fly right away when we release. There are no bridges, but the rest of the QMB types will have missions for you (None (head to head, though I offset the merges on most), Airbase, Armor (really generic CAS for this map), Strike (added with QMB+, these will be shipping attacks), and Scramble.

I'm trying to mix 'em up a little so with the QMB and switching between map date versions you will get a nice tour.

If you want, I can always make "Bridge" an alternate strike mission type and vary the target area...

Maybe switch "bridge" for "bridgehead" strike? 8)

Many thanks for all the kind words of encouragement. I have not posted in awhile, as my head has pretty much been buried in the FMB map editor for the last several weeks, but wanted to stop by and provide status.

99.44 percent of the terrain work, airfield construction, texturing, labeling, object placement, mission building, airfield AI testing, and the Readme file are complete. As T said earlier, Team Pacific is now reviewing all versions of the map for errors, prior to final compilation of the individual actors.static files.

We think you will enjoy the final product, and that it will have been worth the wait.
