Painting the whitewall tires won't be a problem, but unless I figure out something clever with the MAT's then all 109's with spoked wheels will have whitewall tires and changing it will require different versions of the mod.

Skins change with different maps (winter/summer) but is it possible to do something similar with other textures? If I could make a tire texture that would only be used on desert maps I'd do it but I don't know how. Any hints are welcome!

I was thinking of something much simpler - just an alternative folder one could use when about to fly a desert campaign. The regular version could be commented out (by use of a minus sign). It would mean exiting the game and reloading IL2, but I could live with that.

Unless, of course, some bright spark finds a way to link desert wheel textures to map camouflage.

I've seen a few photos with whitewalled tail wheels on Fw 190's. Now that would be pretty cool and there could be an optional folder as Username suggested. That's assuming the tail wheel uses a seperate texture.

No separate texture for the tailwheel unfortunately but I have an idea on how to relatively simply swithch between whitewall tires and normal. I've also realised that I can make it changable for one aircraft at the time, it doesn't have to be all spoked wheel models that are affected... I'll be back Smile

Interesting!

I took a look at the Kagero book on JG 27 and the Osprey book on North African 109 aces. Seems a minority of desert 109s had whitewall mainwheel tires - maybe 10 - 15% of 109E-7s and 109F2/4s had them.

Agreed! I was doing the same thing in my Jagdwaffe books and realised this too. Still, if anyone wants it, it'll be ready soon...

Now it's ready and I think it's fairly easy to switch between whitewalls and no whitewalls - see my first post...

Many thanks Cap'n.

What about this for an afterthought: red undercarriage legs for 109K4s. Don't know how common this was, but I have seen a colour photograph and caption indicating its use when the engine required a particular fuel.

These are mapped directly on the aircraft skin so there is no need for a mod for them. 8)

Excellent work!

The BF109 is getting alot of treatment. With all of these mods for it, its just getting better and better. Now if we could get all this treatment for the P-47....

The red legs were an indicator that the plane took C3 fuel, im not sure if k-4s used them but G-14AS's did and yeah they can be added by the skinner.

**Also fantastic mod Cpt, its a great addon

Red undercarriagelegs where sometimes used on the G-6/AS and G-14/AS. I tried using red wheeldiscs for the G-6/AS but I wasn't satisfied and I'm not sure how common it was...
