@ vagfilm: You need to create (or find, download and install) a couple basic missions for the zip_Alpen map in order to use the map within QMB Plus. The error you're seeing is just telling you that there is no mission to load. That error message appears in QMB Minus actually, in QMB Plus it will state "No Target" or something like that; it means the same thing, no mission to load.

Sandman: thanks for the reply. After downloading a sample QMB+ mission ofr zip_Alpen I realized that the problem was that the quick mission I created had only 1 plane instead of 4 per side. I changed this directly on the mission txt file and now it is read.

I'm having an unusual problem. After installing per instructions (I had v1.1 installed and let it overwrite), I can load any of these maps. alpen/alpen_east/alpen_west. But when I try and load from any of these maps to another alpen map, (i.e. aplen_east>alpen_west) I get the following dialog:

The instruction at "0x5ed0530e" referenced memory at "0x0000051c". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate program

I click OK, the game closes and when I re-open it I can load the desired map fine but again, cannot change to another version. I don't have this problem with any other map or switching from an alpen amp to another map, just switching between the alpen versions.

Any ideas?

It's more an annoyance than anything else. The maps themselves are gorgeous. Thanks zipzapp!

The explanation is simple, the map is so big that when you try to load another in succession, you are running running out of RAM.

ZipZapp Hello, I have the exact same problem Boris the Spider, in practice gives me an error in the map Carri

well, this is about as big as maps can be.

giving two seperate static is a good idea, reduces loading time for me.
but the error keeps coming, seems o be a problem with map size in general. this is relevant for mission builders in FMB (i currently work on one on the map) but while playing the missions from single mission I do not encounter the error, even when playing consequent missions.

really great work!!! Smile
no finally my home turf is represented in IL2 Smile

Can you provide a map with a less dense popluation I think static.ini is doing it.

I'm running a quad-core, 4GB of RAM and two 8800GTX in SLI

If I can't run it without the memory error I'm suprized anyone can

Don't get me wrong it's a WONDEFUL map one of my favs.

it is not the rig that sets the linit, it is the limitation of how the game engine handles the memory.
i am running a dual core, 1GB and can play without framedrop on the full populated map while fighting big bomberr groups.

only the FMB memory handling is the problem, so it seems.

First let me say congrats on this map. It is truely beautiful. I am having some problems with it now. When I first d/loaded it and installed (ver 1.1) I could use the map in FMB but would have a memory error when exiting map after running mission in FMB. The map played fine online and I managed to get a mission made for me and my friends to use. Now things have changed, I installed ver 1.2 and now the map is unplayable in the full version online. Massive lag spikes or video glitches. I changed my mission to run on ALPINE_EAST map and it runs fine. Now I try to go back to FMB to either tweak the mission or make a new one and I get CTD with cannot read memory error everytime. I have tried all the tricks listed in this thread with no help. I cannot create any missions using this map now in FMB or modify the one I have. I am running an AMD FX60 dual core with 2 gigs ram, dual 7900 video cards in sli mode. I believe my system should be capable of running this map. This is the only map I have issues with. Any help out there??

P.S. I did try putting ver 1.1 back in with same CTD memory read problems.

Nice to hear you like the map. Seems there are different problems.

The crash to desktop error seems to occur if you load a very big map into the fmb and load an other very big map afterwards. Memory is not cleared when leaving a map; you will notice, if you load the same map again it displays very quickly. So there seems to be not enough free memory to keep two big maps at the same time in the memory. But you can load a small map after loading a big one. May be, every rig has its own definition of "very big", but i think this limitation is hardcoded in the game. The error doesn't occur if you start a mission as a mulitplay game. Single missions can be copied into the coop (when using moving cars) or dogfight mission folder without any change. But even without that you can save a mission and no data will be lost when starting the game again. Of course that error ist annoying.

It's not clear to me what you mean with "i can't create new missions." Doesn't the fmb display a map? Can't you save a mission, what happens if you try this? You wrote "ALPINE_EAST". There is no map or path with that name. If you changed one pathes name somewhere you must change it everywhere. Only the maps name in the all.ini (First part of the entry) is free.

If a adopted mission doesn't load, the enty in the [Main] section of the .mis file must be wrong. It's case sensitive, so check this first.

For some reason I get the memory read error when trying to open the map at anytime. Even if I had just started game , go to FMB and try to open any one of the 3 alpine maps(east, west or the full map).
As a result I cannot make any missions with this map as i get continual CTD memory error read problems. Also the full map lags so bad it is unplayable. I used it for a while with no problems, but when lag on map started so did the CTD error in FMB. Again FMB will not load any of these maps for me no matter when i try to load them. I have all the other maps listed here and they all load and play just fine.
