[DEMO-MOD] Copilot for B-25J cockpit
#16

jameswildwood Wrote:Hi there,
Great mod, hope she doesn't start nagging though!
Just a thought , would it be possible to mod the view of your own body
using the controls. Have always felt a bit wierd flying an empty plane.
Iwas playing Grand Prix Legends recently and the drivers body
( stearing and gearchanging especially) really immerse you in the game.

This is my first post here and i would like to say hello to all and thank you for all the oustanding work you do.

well it wouldn't be much of a problem to introduce pilot2 mesh and place it on pilot's seat .... but i believe renmik and Ranwers are working on similar project so .....

I have been having some fun with this mod, it is quite a good idea for added realism. I know the mesh is not perfect but it is a start and IMHO the gem of a brilliant idea.
One question, which line do I have to alter to turn the head slightly, as it is quite unerving to look to the right to find my co pilot grinning inanely at me instead of watching the controls....

Please keep going with these ideas

gratefully

try with those (orange) .... just watch it , you can easily end up with distorted mesh ( white ones are for position )

if you succeed .... please offer result to us too

You were right about the mesh distort problem, ended up flying with Frankenstein at one point, even more scary than being stared at the whole time.... I have moved the co-pilot back, made the head a bit smaller, inclined it slightly and moved him/her further away, put a realistic (butt ugly) face on him but I still am not able to make him take his eyes of me. Still working on it though, and some reasonable uniform skins.

It does look especially good at night though (a bonus for those who are scared of the dark as well....).

Thanks,

magic

introduced new mesh ..... took me ages until found right pilot without goggles on and mapped to different mat file ( so there is no twins in cockpit  )

as for staring goes .... place picture where subject doesn't look directly in to camera

Here are my settings, I think the perspective is slightly better - althogh he does kind of sink into the seat when I climb... I think I will try and work out how to un-attach him from the control column.

Please use these as a starter if you wish and if you get a better result, please let me know.

Nice idea. I was just thinking about this while I flew a long mission from Creta to Roma with a B29 (don't ask why Big Grin ) and the copilot was missing... then I observed some "odd" effect... when I droped my flaps the bomber would turn its head a bit... soooo... why not putting the copilot look straight and only when you want to have an exchange of looks, you can... lower flaps a bit and she looks at you Big Grin ? Something like the effect from Test Drive Unlimited (not a sim in the real sense but...) where you can drive rented cars that have a chick from "the agency" riding along in the passenger seat and when you look at her (the game has TIR/Freetrack support), after 1 second or so, she turns to you and smile...

Imagine... "Yes darling... our right wing fell off... *smiles*"

... he , he i can imagine where will that end .... autopilot on and ....

At my present knowledge ( which isn't much) i can't make such effect , i can only stick/conect certain mesh to some moving part to make it move . If i have glued head to some existent indicator like rudder for example it would result with head moving all over cockpit ...
