[DOWNLOAD] New map: B29 Alley New DL Links

1/ This is not a WIP map... as the goal of this project is to merge four completed maps

2/ I'm afraid it won't be any official DL link... because Fly_zo gives only such link for maps without any problem.... unfortunately, although this one is a simple merge of four official maps, on my computer I can't save a mission without deleting (builder.PLMisDestruction) in bldconf.ini
I'll ask to Fly to verify :roll:

3/ about making bigger sized map, I doubt we can do better... this one is 17600x17600... and, even with empty actors.static, you can't open it in unlocked FMB... so I'm afraid we are now close to the limits for memory

4/ about using LAL_Rone work on Okinawa, firstly we would have to ask him permission :wink: , and secondly, I'm the only one to know coordinates where I put Okinawa map and consequently how much to shift objects... :wink: but why not ? :roll:

About using LAL_Rone Okinawa for this map, you have to think about what is possible and what is not

For objects and heights, I don't think I would have any problem...

but you have to understand that I made a merge of 4 maps with 4 load.ini (in fact... 3), I've already done some tweaks to have 1 single load.ini keeping original look for each map... the biggest change is for IwoJima (1 single texture)

LAL_Rone released Okinawa retextured so I'm not sure it's possible to find a way to "merge" his load.ini with others

Cry ... in fact, I don't think it's possible...

what do you think might be the problem in saving the missions? Do you think it is a memory capacity problem?

Is if possible for you to do a merge of just the Kyushu and Okinawa maps? That would be nice for fighter-bomber and B-25 raids from Oki to Japan and vice versa. That would involve less memory.

As well, if you left a fair amount of ocean around Kyushu, that would allow carrier a/c raids from USN vessels hitting Japan in 1945.

IIRC, Kyushu does not have any railways. So that might be a problem for me to work on.

tested on clean AAA UI ( no additional objects in static.ini) and it works w/o problems

BTW Delvpier this save bug seems to me maybe a configuration problem in your case, maybe something in conf.ini I don't know...I know already 2 cases of conf.ini which prevented the FMB map mode to work, maybe there's something similar..

Yes I think so too ... but what ???

Anyway, I prefer have this bug at home but the map working for others :wink:

Delvpier, there is a pretty big misalignment of the houses relative to the town textures which gives pretty frequently houses in the middle of the town streets, check for example Fukuoka town.
About your save problem, maybe PM me (so that thread remains on topic) your conf.ini and I'll try to see if I can get the bug if I replace my conf.ini with yours.

Hi

I've had an issue with the map,I can not load it in the FMB?
My game freezes and goes into the "Not responding" mode.
I then must ctrl+Alt+Del to bring my task manager up andthen end the proram IL2.

I have tried the download from both links,in the order they first appeared,
why two download links ? one should be removed I would think.

I have installed evry map available with out any issues at all,
but this map will not load for me and crashes my game.

I checked the MapMods folder and the .ini

All I could notice was the load.ini section was different from one download to the other,
I tried the delete certain section that was mentioned from the "bldconf.ini" but still it will not load,
it just freezes my game to Unresponding.

Like I mentioned, I have had no trouble at all installing any other maps.

For misalignment, as I wanted to release for Xmas, I didn't make many test flights... so I have to check it

... but I'm surprised... objects shift for each map was mathematical... knowing exactly where I put each single map into the "container" map, it was easy to calculate how much to shift objects

my point for verification was bridges... and you can look at them, each bridge is positioned exactly for the corresponding road or rail...... but I didn't look much at houses.

What is possible is something like this : making this map is a kind of translation, so if you think at texture placement relative to greed.tga (we've already discussed about on other thread), the same texture may be not anymore in the same square of greed.tga after translation than before...

For many textures, it's nothing... but for some like city textures, translation gives a different result... so the pattern to place houses is disturbed ... and don't correspond anymore.

I think about that because, when making, I realized that putting original Iwojima map_T into the "container" map_T was leading to an induced distorsion of airfields (they are not anymore on the same corresponding square of the grid in greed.tga...)

If I'm right, I couldn't do something to solve this houses problem Cry

For crash... I'm afraid it is a simple problem of memory.... this map is 17600x17600 pixels :roll:
on my computer it appears in FMB after 35-40''....

You mention different load.ini... I don't think it's possible... I've uploaded the same file zipped from my laptop onto different servers... and I don't think Fly_zo has changed something for official download :roll:

All clear now, I was wondering too about the cause of this, but your comment made sense, you can translate the actors with arbitrary amounts, however you can't translate textures at all, they just repeat with the corresponding space periodicity :lol:

have built a mission, flying Mustang, escorting B29 (not silverplates) to nagasaki and return.
starting at the southeast egde of the map (the airflield which is on the last southern isle)
heading north to saipan, turninig to iwo jima, continueing to okinawa and than fly to the north. at nagasaki there will be some japanese fighters (if the timecalculating fits XD)
sometimes additional US flights will join or pass the mainflight, mostly to keep the mustangpilotes awake XD

the mainflight takes up to about 5 hours of realtime flying ^^

i don't know when i will fly this mission but i will do it ^^
hight is 7500m @ 500km/h
hope i will not run out of fuel :/ (of course i added external tanks)

the only problem is, that i don't know, what BG and FG were involved in this szenario, so i've just choosen some by random... same for the japanese wings...
