[MOD] AI Mod V.17 *UPDATE*
#76

Certificate, thanks mate. For myself i can honestly say this is probably the most exciting area of il2 to develop, being an offliner only. Have not had time to test yet, but reading the forum you seem to really be on to something.

just dropping a line to say how much yours and the other modders efforts are appreciated.

Wow to think I almost passed this thread by, thinking it was about the ineffective 304 AI mod!
Well done in creating this. It looks like a whole new world is opening up for the offline players. Big Grin

Oh, btw:
SandMan Wrote:One curious incident occurred ... an AI Spitfire MkI came in for a landing and flared ... then went up about 20 meters and then did a nice -if steep- 3-point landing. Any human flown plane doing that would have ripped the entire undercarriage off the plane.

This one is a known bug with the Spit1 AI that predates this mod. I've been seeing that effect in the Mk1 regularly for some months now. Happily, the two are unrelated.

Quote:- Random chance of enemy aircraft not reacting if you approach from behind with a large energy advantage. This is to simulate the AI getting "bounced".

I just love this idea 8) Great work you're doing here.

Thanx for all your hard work.

Right, then, after testing this beaut of a mod, I feel I have no choice but to give it one of these:  Big Grin

This is really a historic moment for moding, the first AI mod which is working, I think it will take some time and a lot of work and imagination/intelligence to push it further.. I think for offline play especially it's the most important direction in modding, and I'm really glad it started!

Very nice indeed - now I have bombers taking evasive action instead of just flying along as if without a care in the world. Much better this way.

I've also wondered if there is any way to cut down on wingmen seeming to be able to out-fly and outmaneuver and out-race my plane. I've had them zooming back and forth and up and down in the skies before, while my own plane, straining at 110% throttle, struggles forward. I've always wondered why that happens in the game.

The difference in behavior in the AI Fw190 is quite noticeable and very welcome indeed. I saw both the negative gee pushover and the split-S for the deck as an evasive tactic. Very nice! Even the most casual student of Luftwaffe tactics couldn't fail to read dozens of accounts of this most common (if perhaps misguided) escape maneuver. Something entirely lacking in the Il-2 series - until today Smile

Managed to give one Dora a real pasting as it pushed over into a negative gee dive. Saw strikes over the belly and it went from the pushover to an uncontrolled spin in a very convincing manner. Much too low to pull out too. One of those moments that makes you wince in sympathy.

Seems to be an epic piece of work this. 10/10 from me

I actually enjoy doing quicck missions now Smile

Haven't tested the mod yet, but - can you also prevent gunners from firing on friendly bombers nearby?

And how is this mod compatible with online gameplay?

Thanks very much for your work.

DL-ing the mod now.

Yes! Great mod! AI doing different actions! Can't believe it!

Thanks for your hard work :!:

this is epic, i been testing it and it's very noticeble the change in Ai behave, much more agressive and limited to real aircraft conditions, i wait for more improvments on this area, as this was a lack in il2 until now.

very nice work, keep on it lad

Wonderful mod. Thanks. Please could you include "AI nav light off" mod in it ?
#89

Yes, very interesting MOD.
I only fly against IA in my squad. And I like this MOD !!!

Please, I use "IA Nav light off" MOD. Could you merge the two mods (IA+Nav off) in your EEBBE344D2C2A05A.

If you need "IA Nav light off" MOD, I can send you. Contact me by PM.

Thanks !!

Certificate,

Tried your mod with a couple of my testbed missions last night. This looks good to me, the change in ai behavior was very noticeable. To me tamping down the ai engine management efficiency had the effect of bringing the fight in closer. Had a particularly enjoyable fight with 109 vs I-16s where I found myself cockpit to cockpit with the enemy, counting the rivets and checking to see if Ivan shaved that morning.

This is the type of mod that will need a lot of beta testing by as many people as possible, but I think this is a huge step in the right direction. Thanks
