Viikate Wrote:Hey Cert! Have you considered making AI blind to attack coming from sun? It should be relatively easy to make in detectable. Get vectors to sun and to enemy (actor). Normalize vectors and if the x,y & z are same or close == hun in the sun. Of course you'll need some basic checks that is the sun below horizon etc. but basically this should work. And if later reduced AI visibility in dark is implemented, this could be used so that AI can spot the enemy's silhuet easier against moon.

Of course the killer feature would be able to cast a ray from own AI's plane to enemy and see if it intersects with clouds. Hiding in the clouds would rule Tongue

This is a great idea, the implementation might be a bit tricky though, because if the player was already detected, you don't want the AI to simply forget the player is there and carry on back to whatever task they were doing. I'll give it some thought, thanks for the ideas.
On a side note - when i was flying with the new AI last evening, i noticed they actually seemed to try to run to the sun a few times when i got on their 6, i don't know if that's intentional but i found that very cool indeed! I would completely lose the sight of them when they did that.

I didn't try the mod yet, but from what I've read and the reactions from my squadmates it looks like a great update. It was something really needed. Thanks a lot

I tried the AI mod for a few hours last night and it makes a HUGE difference no more endless barrel rolling till ya puke. I found that they will even extend and return to attack with more speed and alt behind them than before.

The AI wingman actually did WTF he was supposed to as well, instead of leaving your azz hung out to dry he did his job for a change. Thats worth the effort if nothing else.

Thanks for your efforts!!!!!!!!

Thank you Cert Wink this has been needed since...........day one! And also to Stratodog, this at least for me has been a problem since the games inception. I was flying the other day with a Tempest support squadron and they had first shot in a head on pass but they just passed Cry and every time I fly this mission it always has the same result and  so in my mind this is a well needed MOD Big Grin thanks again (waiting for update Wink )

any idea when the version with the head on pass on bombers be available?

I could use this when setting up my Dark Knights Campaign

You can give it a whirl right now... right now it's limited to 109G6s and later, all 190s, p51s, p47s, p38s, F4Us, F6Fs, F4Fs, YAK9s.

Could you officially call me a test-pilot? So I can tell my wife I have to fly every day?

It's a wonderful mod Certificate. You made

Even some fighter go straight with a bandit in her six.
Actually that's how Japanese pilots behaved in real life. They were ordered to maintain formation and fly straight no matter what even if they are attacked. Changing this behavior would go against historical accuracy.

This is fantastic:!:
What is the randomization range?

Quote from last update:

-AI no longer should no longer begin defensive maneuvers at 300m, distance is randomized within a range.
