COMING SOON! English Channel 1940 Final Release

See? No problem Smile

I just looked at your French village buildings and I remember in rural France in the 60's the distinctive manure/straw piles out front near the roads. Smile

Does that mean mine aren't being used or are they modified versions? Fine either way BTW!

Sorry, I wasn't clear - the placement of city textures and roads is being worked on by someone.

I have edited the city textures a little though, so that they have a defined road network. That way they work at altitude and low down.

here is something you might want to add to the map as a add on for further years for the channel map.

The Schleswig Holstein Battery from Hel, in France recalled as Battery Lindemann saw considerable service, with the three guns emplaced singly in turrets, protected by massive concrete encasements in places four meters thick. The guns fired 2,226 shells at Dover between 1940 and 1944. The guns were not put out of action by bombing despite being hit many times, due to the thick concrete. Only the Bruno turret was damaged on 3 September 1944, when a shell from a British Railway Gun hit its elevating gear shortly before the battery was captured.

the same gun was in use in Norway and is still mounted in the same place.
The Adolf canons as they where called had a bore of 40.6 cm and a range of 56000 meters.
AS a pure naval gun the range was 36400 meters.

What a sight this had been in the map and with functioning guns too.....

Now that was a lovely looking harbour. and yes i think it was good use to make some better looking harbour objects...
i just wonder if it hadnt been possible to "break up" one of the runway(ships) and accually make it possible to have objects on topp so they dont sink thrue??

Totally awesome Joe, that's going to be so cool to fly over and over and over, good on ya! Wink

Dover harbour if I'm not mistaken.
Lovely job Joe, even got seaweed on them! How we've put up with the crappy things we've had to use for harbours for so long I don't know.
Top marks!

Just the new objects on this map would be an awesome addition to the sim!

One question, more like request, could a new object be made using an invisible plate that is destroyable? Thinking is that this would be placed over runway areas and when hit by a bomb a crater object would appear and would remain for the entire mission.

dunkelgrun - yes, that's Dover, but by no means the final thing. Just a quick 2 min job to test the objects in situ.

TurkeyDriver - yes, that's certainly within the realms of possibility, and something I mght be able to get around to once my Channel map is finished. Until then, all my spare time is devoted to the Channel map iteself. But yes, it's definitely do-able.

Once the new Map is released, how long is it estimated for some short campaigns to be written/released using it? I'm certainly no mission-builder or campaign builder, I only know the basics....but I don't think existing BofB campaigns, for example, can be easily "switched over".

Well, once the map is almost finished the plan is to have someone make a set of 4 or 5 missions to be released with it, so that you've got something to get straight into the action with.
