No problem Pete. I've never done a 3D model like you've done so I have no idea of the pains that you go through.
I found the problem on the wing root. It was me. I did over estend the red. With the top and bottom wings so close, I didn't realize that there wasn't as much "play" in the template as with others I've worked with. All in all though, It's still a good template.
I hope I did a good job on the additions. I'd hate to ruin just a good plane.
Cool Pete.
I would suggest the metal without the lines and rivets added. Leave them as a separate layer(s) to give the skinners more options. The warpped text box is a definate plus. I have to learn how to do that so I can adapt. That will come in handy when trying to do some of the Spit skins too. Always looking to learn something new to make this game better.
The extra rivets will also be a good addition. I don't know if you've seen the template I "augmented" and posted, but I reproduced as many of the panels as I could. You could probably use those to help you with all the panels you are looking to add. I wish I had kept a separate section with all of them individually, but when I got done with them, I made the mistake of merging them. Now if I need to make a change, I have to go back, create the panel all over again and erase the original from the panel layer.
Anyway, hope this helps. Looking forward to the new template and that MiG.
Peter,
Yes I would agree with US_GRANT, a plain metal layer without any lines or rivets does give the skinner more scope.
IMHO the fuselage line vs tail break conflict is not a big issue as the aircraft is normally pretty messed up by then anyway. No need to redo meshes over this.
Once again thanks for all your hard work.

If you take a look at the thread below (sixth pic down) you'll see the back end broken off farther back than the mid fusealge line anyway, so as GJE52, it's not worth the headache.

BTW, I've read a lot of folks complaining about this plane flaming out and stalling all the time because it uses the same FM as the YP-80. I have not had that happen to me yet. I would imagine it comes from yanking the throttle and stick around too much. Let the plane do most of the work.
I have had a couple of flame-outs when pushing the throttle too far forward too fast. However I discovered that if you shut down hard and glide for a while (not sure what the optimum time is) it is sometimes possible to re-ignite... if you have not been shot down in the meantime. The FM will allow considerable glide times and dead stick landings are very possible.

what entry name does this aircraft have in order to place it in the static.ini of the static aircraft placer mod thingy? :?
Also what does it need to be entered as in the skin mod if I want to replace the default skin?
Top work by the way. Really looking forwards to the next update.
Okay, my post could have been a little clearer.
I do obviously have the F-86 installed and the paintschemes/skins folder is not the issue......or I wouldn't be able to skin it.
I'm refering to the mods that
A/ lets you add to the aircraft that you can place as static in the FMB so I can populate an airfiled for mission building.
B/ The "Skinmod" that allows you to change the default skin to your own choice whenever you select the default setting.
I tried to put it in the static.ini but it crashed the game 70% into loading.
Does that make a little more sense?
Ah- so you are trying to put STATIC a/c? Not sure that will work until someone comes up with another static a/c installer.
That is as I understand it,
