I do obviously have the F-86 installed and the paintschemes/skins folder is not the issue......or I wouldn't be able to skin it.

I'm refering to the mods that

A/ lets you add to the aircraft that you can place as static in the FMB so I can populate an airfiled for mission building.

B/ The "Skinmod" that allows you to change the default skin to your own choice whenever you select the default setting.

I tried to put it in the static.ini but it crashed the game 70% into loading.

Does that make a little more sense?

I'd like to know that too. would be nice to have an airfield full of sabres.

OK Bo, How'd you do it? Be specific. I'm thicker than a whale omlet Big Grin

Well If you've seen my Blue Impulse Screenshots I originally had Static Aircraft placed around so that I could check spacing. I did this by making my YP-80 into a F-86 Sabre.

Simply copy the F-86 mod folder so you have two copies in your mods. Name the other one like YP-80 F-86 and then under this directory "MODS\P-80A F-86\3DO\Plane" rename the folder inside the plane folder to "P-80(Multi1)". Then in FMB all your P-80s look like F-86s etc and you can fly it in other jet servers that don't use mods. It's only a visual difference but it feels better flying an F-86 lol

Thanks very much for that tip, it works a treat! Big Grin

Hm... I tried installing this. I followed all the instructions and to the best of my knowledge it's correct, but IL-2 closes at 60% when I try to start it. I removed the F-86 and it launched fine. Anyone know the reasoning behind this?

Is the folder structure IL2 Sturmovik/MODS/XP-86 mod v1.01/3do/plane/XP-86/ or is it something else? (letters in red mean that that folder's name is not really relevant)

Also, completely unrelated: I've put up a video showing the latest changes to the aircraft here

Check the air.ini again! Everything correct? I'm asking, because a squadmate had the same probs caused by a mis-spelling in the air.ini!

PeterD, any news on the Mig15? Of the FM/Cckpit for the Sabre?

Yep! check 2 posts above Tongue

Regarding the Mig though, I've worked a bit more on it, but not much. I spent the last 10 days on a trip so all I've had time to do was the sabre class stuff. However I plan to get back to the Mig on the weekend, if everything goes well the main model will be finished by Sunday. The Sabre pit I haven't touched it since the last update, so nothing to report there.

Great video on your site. Re. the Sabres weapons capabilities. The A5 had just one hardpoint on each wing so you had the choice of mounting either of the two fuel tanks, OR a 500lb, 1000lb..but not both at the same time. I would not be surprised if Napalm and other types of WWII ordnance was also viable for it. Later Sabres had the additional hardpoint inboard of the fuel tanks..

Sabres COULD also carry the HVAR 5" Rockets on the "Zero Length" rails (little stubs) and on paper could carry 8 on each wing..4 rails with 2 on each.

I've never seen aphoto of them or read an account of them used in combat.

Your Sabre is just f***ing great, man. It really is so cool being able to blat about the skies swatting out Ranwers surprisingly convincing Mig15.
Thanks very much. Even if nothing else happens with it, I'm very grateful for your work.

I'm not sure about 8 rockets, but they could definitely carry 2. One on each wing. The 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing used this capability in January 1951 at Taegu South Korea. Here's a picture of an F-86 A-5 of the 4th FIW armed as such. I scanned this photo from a book I have on the 4th FIW. Perhaps they could carry more rockets if the hardpoints were available but if they where ever installed on the A-5 the 4th FIW did not have them in January of '51.

Just in case you didn't see this before, here it is again. Some links to some great cockpit detail pics.

Sorry if you've already got something like this.
