I strongly suggest that everybody stops making requests for Vietnam or modern era planes. At this point, it looks like admin is shooting on sight. The more or less official stance here from what I've seen is that planes from WWI to Korea are fine but that's about it. You want something modern, go get LOMAC, Falcon 4, Wings Over Vietnam, SF2, etc. IL2 is a WWII sim and we are privledged to have it expanded as far as it is...

The conflict in Vietnam goes a long way before US intrusion into the war, and the war against French occupation used WW2 aircraft. IIRC, The Colonial French ended up using captured Japanese aircraft when their own were no longer serviceable.

I have photos of Spit IXs serving with the French over what was to become Vietnam. I don't see why that conflict shouldn't be worked on, as it was quite soon after the war (about the same timeframe as Korea, from what I remember) and used a lot of late-war/immediately postwar equipment.

WWI to Korea is the arena IL2 s/b limited to...... In my opinion. When you get into VN and high performance a/c, problems compound with all the added bells and whistles, hock: hock: :roll: :roll: and super intricate systems that really require you to hold the equivilant of a 747 Type Rating just to react to..'Fighters at 2 o'clock'. :OO :OO :OO ...you tell your RIO to go through the long check-list. That takes the pure fun out of it for me.

These two are worlds apart.

Being an open forum you can say yes, BUT>>>I want VN :evil: :evil: ; that's fine...BUT Admin s/b the body that decides where the line is drawn; taking into account the general consensus of the large community we have here of dedicated fans and very talented contributors. It would become a nightmare to manage.

If you think WE, including myself, have had to seek therapy for the pure moments of frustration with 'Gremlins' that cause all the crashes etc., 'You ain't seen nothin' yet' once you open the door to more complex armament.

In closing, hats off to MustangBF for bringing this issue to focus. I've flow for a living for over twenty years, from single engine to G IIBs; you make your own mind up. Datz muh opinin. :mrgreen:

IL2 is a great sim but cannot handle the advanced systems and of modern aircraft. Just to clarify one last time, I'm not speaking out about the French fighting in Nam in the 40's and 50's. I'm talking about late 50's and early 60's onward. There... :roll:

I nearly think so. I would begin making modern Requests when there are no more WW2 WW1 or Korean War planes could be made, becaus there exist all.

Well, the problem with that would be that the avionics, weapons, flight models, etc. are beyond the limits of the game to handle. It won't work...

Precisely my point in my post, :? :? F-4, Mig 21-22...too intricate, requiring Mega memory and hot cards, most can't or will not put so much money into a system. :x. The engine can't support high altitude or aircraft that exceed 1000kmh anyway, so Vietnam is pretty much ruled out, unless someone is willing to rebuild the engine

Isn't rebuilding the engine basically rebuilding the game? Isn't that illegal?

But I agree everything that has been said so far. The game engine cannot handle all the advanced systems past vietnam. The game JUST WASN'T MADE FOR THAT.
