how do i get FULL graphics settings via conf.ini ?
#1

i was wondering if anyone has a high end PC and runs il2 on full spec.
could you possibly post your conf.ini settings.
i would like to know what the config would look like when maxing out the graphics

i have been playing around with my conf .ini and think i may have messed it up a bit.
i run with 8x anisotropic and anti-ailaising but can go as high as 16x and 16Q whatever that means . i also have many other goodies available to set on my card such as force mipmap, tripple buffering, conformant texture clamping/filtering, extension limits, and would love to get all this working to the max

i am fed up seeing objects rendered only when i get close to them.

Shouldn't you have Forest=3 and LandGeom=3 for best results? -viking

Yeah why not.Although the way are things going for me I'll settle for the good results most of the time over the best results part of the time or hardly ever.

Actually, i'd also like to know what the 16Q means. I have it as an option in NVidia Control Panel, as well. btw, Saburo, most of the graphic changes can be upped in the GPU Control Panel (ATi/nVidia).
I've found that you can only do so much in the conf.ini - eg< i don't think you can set AA/AF, etc via the conf. Those need to be done in the Control Panel...
@ Bingo 1957 - that looks like a pretty decent setup you have - i must ask, though, why your Effects is set to 0? It can go up to 2, but is probably better on 1..... 8)

thanks lads, but i was looking for someone with maxed out graphics, from what i see, everyone bar generalPsyco has their water less than best, so it makes me wonder what other settings are not on max?
i will try you conf's and see if they run better than mine Smile

i found out that 16Q is a VERY hi level of AA and that the line TexMipFilter=3 is the line that allows AA in il2.

but the thing is, for some reason, objects are rendered very late, and i cant work out why, it is like i am flying along and suddenly objects like buildings etc just appear infront of me, this is what i need to stop. i want to see them in the distance. Smile

Hi,

One thing you might try is to look at your page file settings.

I found that using a set size (ie not windows managed) for my page file equal to (or larger than) my available ram seemed to improve the rendering of landscape objects considerably.

Currently have 3.5 GB ram with page file set to same.

No guaranties, but worth a try.

thanks Big Grin i just set my card to the max 16qx aa and 16x as, super sampling etc etc etc, and upped my page file to 6000 mb, .... using psycho's conf and wow what a difference, Big Grin

card settings

anistropic filter -- 16x
AA gamma correction --on
AA setting --16xQ
AA transparency -- supersampling
force mipmaps --trilinier
text filtering neg load bias --clamp
texture filtering --high quality
tripple buffering --on
vertical sync -- on

i have some other settings burt i dont know what they will do so they are on default.

Hi again,

Just read your nVidia settings.

Don't know exactly what spec your PC is, although it sounds like you've got a powerful machine.

If everything is running fine then ignore what I'm about to say... Smile

In my understanding if you are using anisotropic filtering then "force mipmaps" can be set to off / none.

"AA transparency - Supersampling" supposedly exacts a performance hit compared to "multisampling".

Likewise with "texture filtering" - running at "Quality" instead of "High Quality" allows you to use the useful "anisotropic sample optimisation" and "trilinear optimisation" settings which (on my machine at least) result in equally good image quality.

Once again - if your machine can handle it - great, - ignore everything I've said. If you find some issues with large numbers of aircraft / ground objects though, be aware that you can get a useful performance boost without sacrificing the eye candy.

thanks for the advice, i do not have a super computer , i am still on single core lol, but i do have a good card, lots of memory and patience , i will see how it goes and will adjust accordingly, but at the moment, i am loving the difference i have thanks to the guys that posted here. Big Grin

still cant get the objects to render from a distance though Sad
